finally got pics of my a-5. i shaved the rear sight and top rail smooth, filled in the name plate and relocated the top bolt (here's a before pic). the upper receiver was covered with 3m di-noc carbon fiber vinyl in the graphite color. all pics are clickable to full-size:
cqb setup! completely useless lol. stock barrel cut to 4.5", tac-cap, 12-gram c02 drop-out changer with 15-degree asa adapter and a jcs folding stock.
with jcs stock extended.
all business with my trusty 12" j&j ceramic barrel and was e-grip.
close-up showing the pattern in the vinyl. still pictures don't do it justice.
the "ugly" side.
that's all. stock internals, other than a lightweight hammer, spring kit and jcs rva to help tune it and make it more efficient (fva is full-open). receiver halves are polished inside, lo-pro hopper was lined with shelf foam so it doesn't make noise as i run.

All my tippmann are before 2011 model.
My first paintball gun, in 2006:
A5 egrip with OpsGear G36 kit - fake supressor made with PVC ( plastic plumber)
other A5 egrip - MP5k kit - tac-cap
A5 mécanic - with Tacamo Magfeed kit - home made paintjob
A5 with RT - Tacamo AK47. the AK magasine is a real mag. I drill 2 holes for mount it, but it's already functionnal (springs...)
For CQB, my "universal key" to open the locked doors ( 40 lbs )

Tri-tube 'til I die-tube!
Got my first A5 in an unbelievable deal from WALZ (thanks again!). Just finished updating it and now I present... the matteekA5 Fauxnom!
- Pre-2011 A5
- Oldschool e-grip (you need a screwdriver to turn it on)
- Python feedneck, Cyclone removed
- Lapco barrel adapter with Equation barrel and inserts
- Trinity lower rail, machine pistol-style foregrip
- Rufus Dawg trigger, guard, and grip skin
I wanted to go the other way and strip the A5 down rather than adding lots of rails and bulk. It's a "Fauxnom" because it shoots in both electro and mech modes - the trigger microswitch engages long before the mechanical sear is tripped so I can control which mode its shooting in simply by adjusting the position of the rear stop on the trigger guard.
The last steps will be some refinishing and adding a JCS RVA. Speaking of, anyone got one?!
