M98 restoration project

Good day all. I've just completed my M98 restoration project of 5 markers and go figure, the last one the barrel doesn't thread in anymore than 2 threads.

This last build the pins and sear were different than the first 4; it has the same configuration as the M98 Custom Pro (although the marker is only stamped as Custom).

Was there a change in barrel threads throughout the lift of the M98 marker? how would I go about identifying which generation of marker this is to find an appropriate barrel?

The 98's threads are indeed variable.

Early 98/98 Custom barrels don't fit so well in mid production run 98 customs, but sometimes fit in the very newest ones.

Being as you have five 98s, Just try swapping them around until they all fit.

Thanks BlueTrane2028. Plot thinkens though, 4 are already gone with one straggler left. I'll take the marker to my local pro shop and hope for the best. not much else that can be done it sounds like.

I have some stock 98 barrels from various years that I would send you for the cost of shipping, if you need.

Awesome, thanks all. Some good news. While digging through a plethora of bits and pieces, I came across a M98 Apex barrel I picked up a while ago (for the tip only). Sure enough, it fits like a glove! A buddy of mine will be inheriting this marker so I'll put the onus on him to decide if he wants a new barrel or not.
