A5 is just a great marker

I have an old "glossy" A5 and it has been around for years. I hardly ever use it anymore and it has sat for over a year and a half. That is, until last weekend... I took an old friend out for some rec play and let him use the A5. All I did was put a battery in it and fill the 16 oz. CO2 tank and it was good to go. even chronoed at 280 right on the money. I was a little surprised it was so trouble free.
It's really nothing special, as far as A5's go, just your basic mods, RVA, some Billet magnetic trigger assy. on the factory GTA E trigger, a billet Lapco fore grip, Lapco A5 to cocker thread adaptor to an old 10" DYE .690 stainless barrel and an anti siphon 16oz. tank.
My friend used it all day, no problems and he raved about what a great gun it was and how he could hit anything he was aiming at. I took it all with a grain of salt, even though he was very effective on the field.
When I got home at the end of the day, I took it out back to plink around before cleaning it to be put back away and I have to say I was stunned at it's accuracy (remember, I haven't shot this marker in over a year and a half). I was one balling beer cans at 50 yds. like it was no problem. As I have moved on through Paintball, I think I lost track of what a great marker my old A5 is. I think it's going to see a lot more field time this coming year.

Mine's the same way haha. I think we bought it in 04, put an e-grip and SP Teardrop barrel on it and it's never come apart since that day. Shoots like a nail driver and just keeps running.

The only time I've ever fired one was the year they came out. Guy at the field had one and he let me shoot it a few times. I remember thinking "Man, I have GOT to get me one of these!" Never did, but it sure did impress me way back then.

Tippmann is known for durability and reliability. Ive dropped my 98 (first gun) out of 10 foot "sniping" towers at pevs (the old one at AG paintball) and into creeks. S***, i was more worried about the tank exploding than the marker breaking. Still works to this day, Its unfortunate i dont use it anymore. Its what got me into the sport as my first gun, i'm never getting rid of it. Not to mention any tippmann is great to loan out to a friend.

We were charging a castle through the smoke at the pevs/ag field i think one of the last years they did black hawk down. It was pretty swampy where we were running. My buddy totally took a face dive right into the swamp, marker and all. Picked it up shot the goop out and carried on. I was pretty impressed after that

A5 is just a great marker for smoothees

I bought mine off of ebay. Tested in the back yard and it chopped a bunch of paint. Cleaned quick and put away. 6 months later, I took it to the field as a loaner, it turned a hopper full of paintballs into soup. I hosed it off and put it on the wall. Mine reliably blends. lol.

Is yours one of the new ones? I.E. flat, not glossy finish like the older ones.

I used to be a huge supporter of Tippmann. I loved their guns. That all started to change right around the time the TPX was initially released. Right around that time the Platinum 98s were introduced, since then the entire 98 line has been terrible. The Phenom is better, but completely non user serviceable. Now they keep dicking around with the valves on the A5s making them worse. The only line that's halfway decent is the Crossover (mech mode only) and the US Army/TPN line...

The title of this needs to be changed to "the A5 WAS a good marker"
