Tipx SMG How-To

I thought I'd post a How-To for converting the Umarex SMG airsoft kit to be used with the Tipx.
The nice thing about the Umarex is that it's made from a very sturdy composite material. The whole prices should cost around $50.

All you will need is a dremel cutting discs.
2 10-32 1 1/2" socket head cap screws

Use the dremel to sand out the rear inside if the Umarex so the tipx fits in, all the way to the tip.
Remove the too mid and rear screws in the tipx.
Drill holes that to line up with the tipx existing holes.
I removed the front sight altogether, so I could use my cocker barrels with an adapter. Even if you don't do this, you will want to use the front nut as a way tighten the rear bolt without pinching the umarex body.

Stick the bolt just through the rear hole thats been drilled in the. Umarex body, and thread the nut onto the bolt. Insert the tipx into the Umarex body, and continue screwing It on so the bolt goes through the body into the nut on the other side. Because the bolt has a section that isn't threaded, it causes the bolt to screw the two Tipx halves together, without pulling the side of the umarex body in and warping it.

The other bolt just goes through the Umarex body, through the aluminum block, and into the nut.

You can also try a 2 " or 1 3/4 " long bolt for the rear, so Yiu can attach a nut to the other side of the body. But it's very solid as it is already.

You will also have to use the dremel to cut the front barrel off if the umarex, and make the hole bigger to fit your Tipx barrel.

Here's some pictures to give you an idea of what I did.

Nice. I really like the Umarex shroud because the stock is fairly stiff for how light it is which doesn't add up to a heavy gun, and the body has a nice full-length top rail... and it doesn't cost too much or require too much effort to make it work well.

Gotta get me one someday.

Here's a pic without the kit.

And the final, final. After giving it a couple of coats of Matt clear coat to protect the weathering. Adding the reddot, and using one of the rear block inserts that normally holds the airsoft pistol in place to fill in the back, by cutting it down.

Looks great, nice job. can you still use 12 grams easily with the kit on?

I usually don't like the "used and worn" look, but I have to admit yours looks pretty nice. It could just be the pictures though.
I am planning on doing something similar with an ebairsoft kit, except I have an 8 inch Milsig rifled barrel.

I find that sometimes people overdo the weathering.

AKA Fan
I actually think if you ground down the "fangs" at the front, this look would be pretty cool on its own.

I was wondering if you have a link to where you bought this? I haven't been able to find it.
