My Tippmann Factory F/A clean up and repair

I wanted to give this thing its own thread, and I'm not going to be doing anything custom with it really so I figured I'd keep it here.

So, I grabbed a Tippmann Factory F/A on ebay on a whim, I'd never heard of it before then but thought it looked neat. So here it is:

Next to the other project I got at the same time:

Serial #173?

Not a toy yadda yadda:

Read the manual yaddda yadda:

This doesn't work, but it is all there. One end of the spring snapped:

The Magic:

To top it all off, it airs up no leaks, and fires!

So for my goals, pretty much to clean it up and getting it working as reliable as an F/A can be. It doesn't run long on full auto, can't tell if something is wrong or if it just uses a boat load of CO2, or both. I haven't even opened it up yet to look at anything, just aired it up and went to see what happened.

Got it for $50 buy it now.

So here's what I did today instead of eating breakfast

Took it all apart, following the classy vids on youube.

So, since my goal is really just to clean it up and get it working, that is all I did, clean it up and put it back together.

I opened up the feeder and and luckily, the clutch pins are still in place.

Also luckily the spring was still there, but broken.

So I fixed it the way a guy on the field would fix it, re-bend it and pull some more through.

If you don't anneal the part of the spring you bent, chances are it will snap again. I love fa's. I made a qloader adapter for mine since i didn't like the winder Hopper.

Good to know, I'll have to decide if I really want to keep this spring fed myself. I like the idea of keeping it mostly stock, it is such a neat marker.

Have you serviced/refilled the hydraulics on yours at all? Pretty sure mine is low on fluid, I had to adjust the sear engagement screw almost all the way in for it to catch properly.

I didn't have to put fluid in mine, I just had to adjust it. I just followed the service video to break it down and clean it.

If it's working, I would leave the fluid alone. I was unsure on mine and took it apart. It would have been fine, but then I had to fill it again. Not that hard, but one less thing to go wrong if it's just left alone.

The lack of scoring on the valve and bolt tells me this thing was shot very very little.
