| Tippmann 68 special fixer-upper I just need to rig up a siphon tank. I love old Tippmanns, so I was quite happy to get hold of this. It came with a price though; The air line is ripped so I will need a kit to fix that (I has it!!) and one of the two very large screws right in front of the trigger guard is stripped and locked in and I cannot get it out. (EDIT: Did that, boy was that a bugger to get out!) I am going to file two sides of the screw down so I can get a tool to actually grab onto it, then replace the screw. The thing looks awfully complicated compared to todays Tippmann markers. I will be happy to get this thing up and running. ![]() The neat thing about it is I can change out grips with my ICD Alley Cat (I love the comfy grips on that marker!)

| I think the gasline was a 1/8" or 5/32" microline, using compression fittings. It can easily be duplicated, plus some of the members here, and PB Sports sells them. A common mod in the old days was to remove the hose, and replace it with a traditional 1/8" NPT braided stainless line that feeds into the side of the valve, to a bottomline. (Make sure you allow movement, as the valve is supposed to slide). They are not more complicated then a modern Tippmann 98. The difference is things are in different places. The bolt rod is external, held on with rubber bands, and on the left side, for example. nick

| So what I would have to do is put the valve in sideways, and drill a hole in the right side of the bolt tube for the air line to come out. I like the back bottle (I have an ICD Alley Cat with back bottle too and would love it if my A5 had one) so what I would do is tap a hole in the side of the body (right in front of the ASA) for a 1/8 elbow fitting and run it up the side of the marker to the valve, if anything to make it easier to maintain the air line and for more air flow.

| Ok guys, sorry about this zombie thread, but I got an airline kit for this thing on eBay, and have it all put together and fixed up. But whenever I run air through the marker it all comes running out the barrel. If I break it down into 2 pieces (take out the two large screws at the midsection in front of trigger guard) and gas up the back end of the marker, all of the air holds. When I put the front end on, the back of the powertube pushes the forward plunger back into the valve, leaving it open for air to rush through. Could I be doing something wrong? I have looked at the parts breakdown on tippmannparts and everything has been installed correctly from what I can see, but there is one thing; mine seems to have a hole in the body right below the valve where a roll pin could possibly have been located, but that is not listed on the parts breakdown, nor are there any marks/scratches around the edges of the holes to show that one was removed. Any suggestions? Thanks!

| As you know, the valve is "floating". It needs about a 1/4" of play, as its designed to slide back and forth when the gun fires. As odd as it sounds, the forward cupseal stays fixed against the powertube, and the valve moves around it. So something is preventing the valve from floating properly. Maybe the microline is binding somewhere? Or the fittings are binding? or rubbing against something? You could try gassing up with the forward breech removed. THEN adding the breach. Then might push the valve in, so that it can properly seat when the gun is fired. nick

| I would be more concerned about being to short. The Micro line will flex and allow the valve to slide rearward. I like Nick's suggestion of gassing it up while in two parts and then assembling the two parts. If nothing else you will be able to figure out when it starts leaking and maybe what causes it from that.

| I trimmed the hose down and restored the furrow back to its normal size so I could move it back on the hose (that was a trick! I only have one, leaving me desperate) and it works great now! I think that this is the first time that the marker has cycled in about 2-3 years. Thanks HP-Lovecraft and Big Jim!
