i second the thought of retro fitting a Cyclone. that'll solve everything and you won't have to wind the spring(if you get it back together) all the time when your playing in a game.

i do have two new spring assemblies for the F/A but i'm not parting with them because i own 3 F/A's and need to keep them for spares. i'd call Tippmann ASAP and see if they still have them and buy one and maybe a spare.

Due to the valve setup, the Carbine is much easier to tap for the rt/cyclone than the prolite(which has the same valve/body setup as the f/a iirc). In fact, no one has done it yet as far as I've seen. Not saying its not doable, but its not as simple as doing it like a carb does. I'd really like to see it done, would be a very cool piece.

Maybe if I pick up a 2nd one I'd consider it, but I'd like to keep this one stock if possible (aside from fubaring the spring..).

Oh, a tip I gleaned form Weltman many posts ago was to re-assemble the dampeners / shocks while submerged in automatic transmission fluid.

At least I think it was ATF....

I thought of that as soon as I had posted.

ARGH...got it all recoiled except for the last little bit. Coil springs are exceptionally good at ripping all the skin off your fingers, in case you're looking for a way to do that.

If I get this to work I will be offering Star Feed repair as a service. Cost will be $203957802983509283058930598 (USD) plus shipping (lower 48 only), and I get to kick each customer in the junk. Hard.

Fixed! As Axel Rose said, all I needed was just a little patience.

That said, I'm NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN.
