Question 98 Pro question

When I shoot my 98 Pro sometimes it will fire 2 or 3 shots with one pull of the trigger. It is like new (got it in a trade) non e trigger or RT.

Thanks

Peace

From my experience with 98s, that happens for a couple different reasons.

#1 the orange ball detent is put in backwards, but that using causes it to fire full auto.

#2 the sear is worn where it catches the hammer

#3 the hammer is worn where it is caught by the sear

Look to see if either the hammer or the sear have rounded ends.

I'd also check the hammer o-ring. If its swollen or cracked it could keep the hammer from returning far enough to be caught by the sear. If you haven't already, try a generous amount of oil throughout.

Aren't the 98's a pain in the butt to take apart? Anything I need to know?

Thanks

Peace

I had this problem with one awhile back. The sear was worn, which seemed weird as I'd only had it a little over a year.

They're not too bad to take apart as long as you remember where all the little pins go, and make sure the c-shaped spring under the front sight doesn't go flying when you open it up. Take a digicam pic when you open it for the first time so you know how it's set up. The front sight spring can be a frustrating pain in the *** when you're trying to re-assemble. But other than that it's pretty logical.

All 98 owners should open their gun at least once to understand how it works inside.

Compared to some others that I have worked on the 98 is quite easy to take apart and put back together. Of course, for me the shell idea is great. I hate how I can't get "into" my A-5.

Does this one have ACT? I remember that some earlier models had some trouble recocking. They needed a new O-ring and a new main spring to fix it I believe, but you may want to check the Tippmann site or call them or something. Also many shops should be able to help you with this.
