m98 questions..

It seems strange, and most people would say trading a Vision imp for a blowback is crazy. But, one of my friends I played paintball with back in the day, still had it and it was my first Semi-Auto. So I did it anyway, now it has been years since I owned this marker, and I figure you guys are more up to speed.

Now, I know that since I got it a very long time ago, it uses the old barrel threads, but, I was thinking about getting a Flatline. I have plenty of markers now, I think the capability is lacking in my markers.

My Question is can I put a Flatline on it, I know it has the old barrel threads, and I have never installed a flatline, I assume it can go on a 98, and that it doesn't have to be a custom, but will the threads be an issue.

Also, I know I can't do an RT or cyclone due to not having gas fittings from the valve, but can I do an E-grip? or would there be metal in the way?

There is a surprising lack of clarification in stickies about the differences in M98s and M98Cs are upgradability wise, just the serial numbers that use old vs new barrels.

There are two ways to e-grip a Model 98. Oneway is to try and find an e-bolt. The other way is to get either the Morlock Board or a Universal T-Board. Of course the second option requires a bit of knowledge of how to work with boards.

The reason is because the area of the grip frame where the e-grip board sits was redesigned.

You shold be able to use pretty much any cosmetic modification available. Some of the performance ones might require a little bit of milling. You would have to mill out certain areas to use them. If you want to use the RT that is one of the areas that you might have to mill out.

A Flatline should fit your M98 fine. Even with the new threads, you can use the new barrels from my experience. If you loosen the screw that goes into the front site before screwing the barrels in, they should fit fine. At least, it worked for me.

As stated by DSH, with the Egrip or RT, I think you would need milling done either way for that to work.

It would be extremely hard to put a new style e-grip in your gun. They completely redesigned the grip frame. It would not be having to take material out so it fits, you would actually have to make material to put in to make it function correctly. I would venture to say it is possible, but nobody will ever do it.

You can, however, get an e-bolt and that will drop in with only slight modifications, or perhaps no modifications at all. I had a Model 98 that only took some dremeling to get it to fit, but it dropped in an old style 98 Custom perfectly.
