Don't barrels need to be specially made to use the Apex system?

Nope, you just need an adapter.
You can put an apex on anything.

i have a apex on the way, so will find out in few day. i think need buy the 14" barrel to get the fit right, will post pic when i get it done.

i just bought the 12 and 14 inch barrel..hope it works for the sl-68II, i saw the pictures, it had threads..i hope it was stock photo. what is the apex system? what is it for?

Gives the same affect as a flatline- gives the ball a backspin to give it a flat trejectory and increases the markers range.
However it is a much better system IMO.

countysports.com had the j&j's for cheapest and can anyone explain to me what widgets are and how you put them in to stop rollout? Even with that small issue i love my SL-68 II very much.

Widgets are small dents put into the breach end of the barrel.
This is something that Palmer's came up with to make the barrel a bit smaller and hold the ball in place to lessen roll outs on their fixed barrel guns.
It can also be applied to other barrels.
This is most usefull on closed bolt guns.

Not sure if anyone else can/will do it.
Doc was hesitant a few years ago to put them on a 'Phoon I sent him.
