Serial # & Clamshell tightness Q's

My A5 doesn't have a serial number. Why is that?

Since the Tippmann A5 is a clamshell body, is there such a thing as tightening it too much? So much, that the moving internals would have to overcome the friction/pressure of the body's interior walls? An A5 I bought new years ago had it's internals slide right out when I popped the back cap.
This used A5 I've gotten recently had to be loosened on all it's screws a bit before the guts slid out.

I'm having velocity problems. Can't get above 180-210 FPS. I'm wondering if that's the reason, or perhaps because a kink has developed in my main spring.

Thanks for the time!

Is your new gun repainted or powdercoated? they usually lose most or all of the numbers in doing that.

It is possible to clamp them tight enough to put a bind on things or break/crack the receiver halves. These are 10-32 machine screws with a 1/8" allen wrench. Two fingers tight is all thats needed, not wrist hurting torque. If you are stripping out your allen wrench head frequently, you are over tightening regularly.

Velocity is directly related to the spring if your velocity screw is maxed.
You can get a set of MadMan springs for around $10 and it will take care of this problem, or if you want to go the cheaper route, contact Tipmann and they will send you another drive spring for free most likely.

PS are you running any kind of regulator or stabilizer? if your A5 doesn't have the LP kit on it, it will want at least 700 psi at the tombstone, with 800 being better usually.

Good luck with it man,
B

Also try to polish the internals. Take some steel wool and polish the aluminum wherever there is moving parts. This will help a lot.

And a spring kit should fix your velocity problem.

I've found a lot of the missfiring that occurs while rapid firing (such as failure to recock) can be remedied by loosening the shells up a bit.
