TJD Customs: Project AC9

Thought I would try something a little different this off season. I have been thinking about making a full custom milled AC for a while but I never had the chutzpah to just throw a working cocker body in the mill and see what happens. Well after getting a little experience with Riddlers custom body I thought I should buy a couple raw ones and try it out. Whats the worst that can happen right?

So at the moment here is what I am working toward.

I think the body is pretty much decided.

Since I am the creator of the PA pump assist I figure I might as well own 2 ;)

Not sure about the VASA right now I feel like it needs some more punch

While in the past I have made prototype HPR's I think I'll take the easy way out and buy one.

Same thing for a lower tube kit.

I keep tossing around the idea of making my own bolt for this one. maybe something that follows the body design so and I can get it annodized to match

For the grip frame I like CCM frames but they are just too common for this. So I figure their is 2 ways to go here.
1. Make my own frame that takes CCM triggers and AT parts
2. Try to find a beat up CCM for cheep and mod it.

Then the barrel. obviously it will be freak bored other than that I am not sure. I guess I'll have to get a better feel of the overall design before picking one. I would prefer to have no branding on it. Actually something like the stock etek 3 barrel could be very nice. (hum have to think on that)

ASA I like the POPS asa's but I also like polished finishes and I know that the dust finish of the POPS is a pain to polish. If only I could get one raw.

Figured while I was thinking about it I might as well get started.

You might ask permission before using that milling scheme.

I would call it sufficiently different. Top profile is completely different no milling in front of the ASA and its difficult to see from the rendering but my lines are much larger and more scalloped than a twister. maybe when the body is done I'll have to take a side by side with one to really appreciate (or not) the difference

Is this just a one-off, Tom?

No permission needed, no one own's the twister body design. Anything else you hear is total BS!..Prove me wrong.

I was thinking of makin' a total of 5 bodies. I am still debating on selling them as bodies or my other thought would be to make them into full guns and sell them that way.

Honestly when I first started the design concept it looked much more twister like. Then I ran it thru my CAM program and it came out with an approximate machining time of 5 hours :O So I went back and scaled things around and got it down to a much more reasonable 1.5 hours per side. I also think this design is going to look a lot less busy than a twister.

I still have one last idea floating around my head to further differentiate mine from a twister. Twisters lines are straight overall while they follow the contour in the z in the xy plane they are just straight lines. I was thinking about getting a little spline action going on mine in the xy while it contours to the z.

I am not sure the spline profile is different enough overall to justify the added complexity but what do you guys think.

I dig the spline / overall concept. Geez man. lol I wasnt planning on buying a marker this yeah even though I want a PA pump. Waiting to see where price shakes out on this but im interested thus far.

NICE!!!

how much would this cost to buy/mill?
