Thanks to all so far. You've reinforced some of my thoughts and brought up some other good ideas.

Make sure every team gets their own schedule, and knows when their games are. If everything runs smoothly, more games can get played.

I feel for every event, if players are going to be paying upwards $100+ each, there should be some sort of prize for 1st-3rd. It doesn't have to be something ridiculously expensive, like gear, markers, etc... just simple paintball trophies, plaques, or medallions would work. I don't understand why anyone would run an event and not provide something for the 1st - 3rd teams.

A decent amount of refs per player ratio.

Organized.

Non complicated preliminary, playoff, or finals structure.
