Usually about $150 for a decent, in working condition, non-rare Tribal. Go check out these. If you're looking to play with it as well as collect, I strongly suggest replacement of the stock regulators (inline HPR and internal LPR) as the stock ones are, well, not bad for the cheap Bulgarian manufacturers of the late '90s, but it's 2006 (um, okay, 2007 by about 40 minutes), there are better options out there. Also, feednecks, bolts, and electronics are all available for easy replacement, and since they take 'cocker barrels, I'm sure you've got one lying around you already like.

What are they? Tribals were made by a company called Toxic Toys in the mid to late '90's. They were bright, colorful, had really neat milling on them (for the time, and not too bad for today's standards, either), and priced like an Impulse or Bushmaster of the time. Toxic Toys was around for about 2 years, and then the owner (one Frenchman by the name of Francois Louvette, who's owned a lot of "fly by night" paintball companies over the years, like Boo-Yah, 3A, and Diamond Labs) took the money and ran. There are 5 base models of Tribals (Addicted, BBT, Fluster, Mephisto, and Twister), two trigger types (annotated 2.1 for single triggers, and 2.2 for double triggers), and a small variety of available annos on the various models (flames, solids, tri-fades, and even some all chrome ones). Honestly, performance-wise, they were about standard for the time: not worth the price tag. Today, you can get them fairly cheap, have a wide-range of upgrades, and still look pretty decent. And there's always the "what is that?" factor anytime you take it onto the field. =D

How they operate: stacked tube, open bolt attached to a 4-way solenoid operated ram, and a poppet valve. Yep, fully half of the electroflingers on the market today use this style of operation, including Impulses, Bushmasters/Promasters, Defiants, Cyborgs, and Intimidators, just to name some more of the well known ones.

What's unique about them? The Tribal Owner's Group is pretty much what makes them unique. As far as markers go, they take the most standard barrel threading out there ('cocker), electronics are nigh universal (like pretty much all the electroflingers... *hmmm* odd that), and take all the standard inline HPR's and drops. The internals function like a dozen other systems, just with some differences in size and shape unique to the Tribals. Not really unique in and of itself, it's the people of the TOG and surrounding machine shops (Edwin's Parts, AirSoldier Products, and Warped Airsmithing) that make it unique. We have no parent company who supports us, we support ourselves and each other. We design upgrades for our pet Tribals and manufacture them. We spread the good word, and help those lost souls who have stumbled into possession of one take care of it.

What else can I say? If it wasn't for the TOG, I wouldn't own one electro marker at all, but thru their friendship, I still dabble in the world of electroflingers. They're a rowdy bunch, but smart, capable, and friendly on top of it.
