i have a cherried '93 f2 illustrator. it's still in the box with manual, spare parts bag, tools and even still have the original receipt. it looks a bit different than the one pictured on the vintage website. that one has a bottom line setup and hose. mine is where the bottle screws directly into the asa similar to my phantom. it is a first year run model and right off the top of my head it has about a 500'ish serial number. i'd have to dig it up for the exact number. i'm new to this website and this vintage website thing. is the other website an affiliate of this one? if so do i submit pics here or somewhere there? some knowledgeable assistance would be appreciated. i have an early model phantom with 14" & 11" integral barrels as well. thanks |

i'm not sure the msrp you have listed on that vintage website is correct. it lists 2 hundred something and as you can see, this one was a bit more costly. it was the absolute best price i could find at that time for this first run model. for me, it was either a mag for $400 w/o a barrel or $500 with the barrel or this one for three fiddy. i shot one of these and fell in love with it, my first semi. even though semi's were taking over the community at that time, i still used my '87 phantom more often than this one. i'll post some pics of that one some time in the future

Wow, I remember now when my F2 arrived in a nice brown box.

Being somewhat of an F2 junky I have to say that I LOVE that yours has the raised sight rail and the box has a cut out for it too! Where are you located? As I don't remember seeing those rails in the US sales adds, could just be poor memory on my part... The one you referred to on vintagerex with the hose and bottom line was an "Express" model. They did that to remedy the somewhat common (never in my case) leak from the rear mounted ASA. F.A.S.T. first released the F1. The most obvious differences being that the F1 had a threaded barrel and had the cocking knob on the side. Later models included your F2 and the F3 which is better known as the AFT (Armed Forces Trainer). The F4 was also made but that's another story. The F1-3's were very well built guns (and the early F4's weren't too shabby either), I still use my F1 and F2 often. Jeffrey

thanks guys. about your questions, as mentioned, this is a fresh off the first run f2. the raised sight rail was sent to me along with an abundance of spare parts shortly after i purchased and registered it with feral. the rail and parts were supposed to come with the gun initially. i suppose the rail machining run hadn't been completed yet and the parts were probably delayed because they used all the existing ones to meet the demand at hand. if you can read the print(top) on the invoice copy i posted, it mentions the delayed parts. at the time i purchased it, i lived in the detroit area. i reffed and played religiously at silver lake field in south lyons(across 23 from futureball) till they shut it down to build condos on the property. it was ordered through an ad in apg mag at direct connect so i didn't get it locally. only thing i didn't like about it was having to tweek the adjustments at both the bolt and striker areas. they both needed to be tuned in unison to function correctly. it was a bit trying at first till i got it in my head exactly what was going on. otherwise it served me well. i'm not sure they liked the pics i took so well. they've yet to be added to the f2 section of that vintage website, hrmmmmmmm |
