Thormax SpeedBall Lonely pistol from Brazil - 1993 marker

So, I'm going to post a lot of info on Brazilian paintball markers on the next days and I decided to start with a really, really rare and odd one. The Thormax SpeedBall Lonelly pistol. I'll start posting up some pics of an old paintball newspaper and then I'll translate the text to you guys. Unfortunatelly I don't own one of these and these are the only pics I have.

Here's the translation:

"We tested the excelent and resistant pistol SpeedMaster - Lonely and we were quite surprised with the performance and the precision that this tiny little gun has shown.

Made by Thormax on the city of Campinas, Sao Paulo state, this gun was initialy projected in 1992, when the paintball sport was in a quite advenced phase in Brazil, specially relating to competitions, but there was still the need for a gun to be used in scenario and survival games. In 1993, the Lonely was already being sold on the market, even being exported to Germany and USA.

The Speed Master Lonely is a pistol type gun, produced in aluminum, stainless steel, brass and plastic and those materials make the Lonely a very tough, reliable and with a high precision shot, while still being light at 1.77 pounds.

It's shooting mechanism, specially developed for this gun, is extremelly smooth and provides great performance.

It's assembly is made with joints and just two screws hold the entire gun together, being one for the barrel and one for the grip-frame, avoiding troubles to the user.

Another detail that brings attention to the Lonely is the lack of a CO2 canister. The actual CO2 reservoir is part of the gun's body, without the need of any special part.

The "Pump" system, which can also be used with "auto-trigger" allows for a fast shooting cadency. It's balls loader consists of a tube mounted parallel to the gun's body and it sport a capacity of 14 balls, an ideal number of shots for the game types of this type of gun.

During the test we utilized a Lonely set to 280 fps and with that pressure, the shots were good for 45 meters range (little less than 50 yards) and by 25 meters, the target is hit with a perfect aim. Even when moving it's easy to make a good sight.

The Speed Master Lonely was already reviewed by several newspapers and magazines and recently it appeared on the american magazine "Paintball Sports", where it appears being used in a duel championship in one of the disputes of the "Mercenarios Super-Cup 1994"."

The second pic says:

"In order to charge the CO2 one only need to screw the gun into the gas tube with CO2. It's 50 grams gas load is good for about 40 shots, more than enough to survival games."

The third pic brings the specs:

"Specifications:

Maker: Thormax and Platoon
Type: Pistol
Caliber: 0.68 inches or 17.27 mm
Weight: 1.77 pounds (750 grams)
Mechanism: pump type
Feeding: parallel tube with 14 balls capacity
Propulsion: pressurized CO2 in a built in body reservoir - 50 grams capacity
Shooting: auto-trigger
Grip: right or left handed
Speed Setting: 160 to 300 fps
Barrel Lenght: 4 inches
Total lenght, including barrel: 16.54 inches"

And under the second pic it says:
"Lonely pictured on the american magazine "Paintball Sports"."

Now as you can see, none of the pictures show the marker's driver side and neither an actual pump handle. IIRC, it has a bolt sticcking to the side, much similar to the Nelspot 007, although that would interfere on the right or left handed use of the marker.

Another note is that, according to the info I've gathered, less than 30 of these markers were produced.

Anyways, hope you guys enjoy it. There's more to come.

Mendel.

This is another one from the same factory. that one is actually mine and it's in my collection. While the Lonely is a "stock-class" pump, the semi is a sort of auto-cocking Nelson. Same internals, body and frame but actually a completelly different shooting mechanism.
