I have two VM-68's Body number one - is the usual zebra anno and near mint. Body number two - is a Magnum (I think, as it's Black, left/right swappable feed, and came with a BBA) and in reasonable but used condition. So, I need to figure out which body to use, should I drill the Mint body for use with the BBA ... or use the magnum body?

Why would you have to drill the first one for a BBA? The BBA's for my PMI-3's are bolt-ons that don't require any permanent modifications.

the magnum BBA adaptor bolts on, the hosing banjo's into it's side and then enters the body about 3/4" behind the ASA like this. This was stock (pre-ano) and minimizes the extra fitting's needed if I was to 180 off the front ASA, PMI style.

Forgot about that. I bought my PMI-3's - and BBA's way before the VM-68 Magnums came out... Call me crazy but I don't like to make modifications that aren't reversible - unless the item is in sad shape to begin with.

Is the problem that you don't have the parts to remake the banjo fittings to reattach the Magnum BBA? It sounds like you're either trying to reinvent the wheel, or I'm missing something. Places like NAPA have a lot of banjo adapters, as do some HVAC suppliers or Industrial Supply Equipment from MSC Industrial Supply. Alternatively use a braided line and a couple elbows up to a remote line adapter. This could also give you a quick disconnect in the line for easy, tool-free dismantling.

doing the work is easy enough ... it's deciding to drill a hole in a perfectly good VM body is all. I like the zebra ano, but it needs a hole, the black magnum is already prepared but I've got a crapload of black markers. Meh, I'm just bein' wishywashy 'bout it is all.

You could have the black one re-anno'd in a color or pattern more your choosing. VMs polish up nicely if you want shiny aluminum. Carter-mill it a la the Dave Youngblood VM...I've always wanted to do one up like his.
