Back around 1992 or so, Carter started doing custom-work for "off the shelf" guns. ie Mags, Cockers, Tippmanns, VM68s, etc.

You would send him your gun, with a big pile of cash, and he would completely customize it. ie Machined body, custom barrel, custom foregrip, sites, etc. New anno, and grips.

Some conversions, like the Carter Mags, were pretty ho-hum. There is only so much you can do. But the Carter PMI3s were very creative. Lots of metal to cut. He always completely replaced the grip.

Originally, he used the Carter-Comp grip frames. Briefly in 1992 he started using those fake-ivory grip frames, like on mine. But that only lasted a year. He went back to Carter-Comp frames... then later using Dye 45 grips.

The reason for he stopped using those grips was that, as I remember, one of his employees has access to polymer molding machines... but die back in 1992. So Carter could no longer easily make them? something like that (clearly I don't know the whole story).

Wow! What my VM-16 project aspires to be is at once humbled and awed. Very nice work!

The Spacegun is pretty much the opposite of the "5-tank VM". It would be amusing to do a side-by-side comparison.

I have fired the new Spacegun 2.0, dead nuts accurate, but still feels like a VM, I am glad to see it functional again But just wait till you see my Dragonov VM that will debut soon )
