Hi,

Try restricting the exhaust to the bolt. It means that the exhaust will be forced to the hammer instead. That's why the ports are there. It was one way of tuning the blow back.

It some what seems that way.... If it wasn't one of the guns I wanted for years I would of sent them to the scrap yard a while back myself.

They were definitely cool guns back in the day I had a vm68 that I had shaved down and some mill work ano with matching ano bottle it was a great gun

Are the valve retaining screws hitting the valve stem?

I've seen it where they go though the body too far, and prevent the valve from opening enough to fully cycle.

try using the stock VM screws.
