CO2 tank fit in stock location

I was wanting to run my VM with the tank in the stock location. Of course I have lost the original tank and now the new one I bought, pure energy 9oz, pushes up the Proteam barrel I have on there.

I have seen the 9oz ones with a rounded bottom, are they thinner?

Is there a tank out there that fits in the stock location with a slightly bigger than stock barrel?

thanks
E

I might be wrong ( and that's not surprising ), but when the VM was coming out they used steel tanks. The newer aluminum/chrommolly tanks were not used in mass. So one would suppose the issue is the thickness needed between the newer tank and the older steel tanks.

The VM68 was originally designed for a 7oz aluminium tank "under the barrel". The 10oz aluminiun also fits in there pretty good.

The 7oz and 10oz aluminium were the standard sizes of tanks in the late 80s.

9oz tanks, however, are not standard in width. Thats why some quality for the 2x2 exemption, and some do not. Some are steel, moly, and aluminium.

You can try searching for a 7/10oz tank. They are very common and cheap, and exempt from hydrotesting.

I have a few 9oz tanks with the rounded bottoms, 9oz butt plates don't fit them, only 7oz butt plates do.
