It was Pro Team Products/Armson that made the Pro-Shot kit.Good luck finding them they don't turn up often anymore and when they do they get snatched up quick. The Mag spring mod works but,I never found it to work as well as the complete kit. Here's the Pro-Shot instuctions for reference Last edited by Chaos; 09-25-2007 at 11:28 PM. |

While any gizmo or doo-dad on a VM automatically gives you cool points in my mind, if you are wanting to adjust your velocity, might I suggest a regulator? I just found them so dog-gone useful. That way I can open up the bolt and valve ports to the fullest and no worry about the main spring. The reg is your friend. But I'll be first to admit. Extras on a VM especially old 3rd party products (minus the power feed ) I'm a sucker for. Punisher was _suppose_ to make a kit for the VM. But being the way things are from what I have read on other forums, I'm not sure that will ever pan out. Sad. I purchased both the classic and FN bolt spring for the Automag. They are different length. Worth to get both. I believe the older Automag bolt steps were with the classic spring. AGD now sells a medium L10 spring and I haven't tried that one yet. I've tried to convine Omegara of the benefits of a regulator in his EC drilling question..... I think the idea is stuck in his head.. but he just needs more time to decide that drillingout his PMI-3 would be BAD ![]() E

I used just old Automag springs. Automag owners would often get a new spring every year, and throw away the old ones. But they worked perfectly fine in the VM. If you see an automag owner at your local field, as him if he has any old springs. Maybe offer $1-2. The process is pretty simple. Take your hammer, and remove the white "bumper". Then to keep the cocking knob assembly on, just replace that long screw with a shorter screw. Drop in the automag spring, and thats it. To make it FPS adjustable, just added washers behind the spring. (I liked to use nickels. They fit perfectly). To make it "field ajdustable", drill a small hole into the lower plug, amd thread for a 1/4" screw. When you turn the turn, it will push against the nickel, and spring, which adds tension, and increases FPS. I'm not sure if it really had any benefits. I said it did in my VM-FAQ, but that was 12 years ago, and I'm sceptical now. However, it does allow you to do a halfback mod nick

I see the main benefit of leaving a small chamber is if you ever want to run a VM68 on a 12 gram in pistol configuration. Not that many shots, but a fun configuration for limited paint play or for hunteering games. ( I miss hunteering games. Granted I only played it three times a long time ago. ) ![]() But having a small chamber has it's benefits as having a little bit more expansion has it's benefits too. But we are talking how much more volume? Not much, but might be enough for tweakers. |

Okay, I have nothing against a regulator, but as I said in the expansion thread, trying for cheap. My main gun is a Flatlined Model 98 with and expansion chamber and double trigger. I am just looking to soop up the VM a little for fun and occasional use or so when I lend it out it will be a little better, I was told that drilling the expansion would be fine, even if I put a regulator on it. I could put a reg too but i have no idea what a good one is and would prefer not to spend much on it. I am trying to get rid of the front ASA and lighten the gun up a little. I am already lightening my hammer, and putting in a starfire bolt. plus I was going to do the automag spring (obviously) and was just wondering about the pro-shot kit. IF I can't find the pro-shot kit I will just find an automag main spring and use that, the velocity adjust was just an idea if possibly, don't really care about that.

A real pro-shot kit will cost more than a reg. In all seriousness... I was busting your chops above. To drop weight, you can use a strap wrench and remove the front asa. Once that is off you will either need to fill that hole or cut off the front end and then drill and tap for a 1/8" NPT fitting.... this was seen a lot back in the day. As to having expansion after the reg... I wouldn't have too much space after a reg if you eventually go that route. If I were you the only thing I would drill would a larger transfer port and whole in the valve.. then get a new grub screw for the top end. E
