The people I started out playing with practiced this. Now, bear in mind that I've been playing almost 20 years. I don't want to sound like one of those old fart/old timers that say, "I remember the day...", but yeah, I've done just about all of it. I've seen a lot of fun games and some games that were just bad and very dangerous from the beginning. With every experience, good or bad and that you survive, meaning you are willing to go back out there especially after what you just went through, you get to add something to you mask. The mask you see in that picture is an original JT Crossfire that I saved up for and bought when they first came out that I have used and will keep using. I've slowly modifed this over the past 13/14 yrs. It also has the remnants of a very old Scott mask mounted on it that belonged to one of my mentors/teachers of the sport who passed away a couple years back from cancer. This guy taught me how to be sneaky and the importance of having a working/reliable marker. "Your gun is your life," he would say. He was also an old Viet Nam vetran who did all the "fun" recon stuff. I inherited his personal gear and mask that was dry-rotted and broken up. His old Scott became a part of my mask as a tribute to a player who taught me a lot and without whom I would only be half the player I am today (not to say that's anything to brag about). As for the bone and the horns, they are real. The horns came from a goat that was my pet. I mounted those on 4 years ago after surviving a snafu of a combet sim the ROTC anf the IUP paintball club. For a while, I had anxiety problems with walking onto a field i.e. chest pains and shortness of breath and other problems. Simply put, I was scared sh***less; I was afraid of getting severely hurt by the military I was an OPFOR with and the mass number of jerks I played with. I even had nightmares, especially before and after I played about this thing hunting me on the field and no matter I did, I couldn't escape it. And it had teeth, big, pointy teeth. Last Fall during a play, I got hunted (everyone against me). It was one of those things were they said my team was walking to the other side of the hill to start. I went first thinking everyone was reloading and getting ready and would quickly follow, but soon found out through the walkie-talkie at the starting station that Everyone wanted to play a game of "hunt Smiley". While I was trying to hide (cuz I was scared of getting cluster fuged) I found this skull and jaw bone and the teeth reminded me of that thing in my nightmares and somehow, I wasn't afraid anymore. I survived the hunt by eliminating almost everyone and I kept the jaw bone and decided to fit it to my mask as a reminder to never be afraid. And I will admit that there are far nicer VMs that have been posted. I know mine looks ugly and like a "mad max" film prop, but please understand where I came from. Someone wrote that Melody was nostaligic of a time when people made their upgrades. Guess what, I was/am from that time and so is Melody (for the most part). I'm also (not proud of this) very poor and still a student (sigh). I can't afford a new marker that is tricked out. Everything in my arsenal is made by me and me only and I made it to be reliable in freezing weather or scorching heat. I built my equipment so I could protect myself or provide a good self defense on the field from the "A$$holes" or on the job as an OPFOR. And the gear has to survive a good beating (meaning it can withstand getting dropped or being fallen upon.) Melody is a good example of this. Everything on her, including the internals have been modified. And the scary part is that Melody is just the prototype. I've built 5 just like her and just as mean Lastly, if EMR be the holy ground or church of paintball glory and honor and great players and non-troublemakers and a place of good natured fun, then my feet will burn as soon as I step on the ground there. Hell, I would incinerate to ash instantly ![]() I have nothing against EMR. Blue and all those guys are great. I even buy the castle DVDs. I just have a tendency to p*ss people off and don't like doing that. Please excuse the typos. And sorry if I come off as an a$$ in any way. I just had to explain things. Yours, Smiley p.s. my vote would be for the double barrel vm if it didn't look so fragile. imho, a vm is supposed for tough with no weekpoints or fallable in any way. Oh, and why two - three tanks on a gun? That doesn't really help except create more unneccessary volume and TOO much expansion (especially for CO2) and will affect your shots in a negative way after the first 100 shots. Just use one Big tank of CO2 and a good expansion chamber. I think this is why I like the tommy gun the best. And good work Noxx55 |

I too think this will be a hard one for all those entered. I have narrowed my choices down to three so far. In no order... Sloonan, VM-onster, and RealtorTommy. Regardless of the winner, I hope the others would re-submit next year too. Because the bar has been set. |

I have never submitted any of my VM's for the contest, but next year is my 20th anniversary of playing paintball and 16th year using VM's so look out, I have a few projects in mind hehe.
