| Crude is her name! Recently I picked up 2 cheap VM 68's and some parts after wanting to get a decent loaner semi I'd dare to trust a newbie with. My SMG is just too dear to me! :P Anyway, I decided to put some cheap mods on it. Since they were totally beat up already and weigh a tonne, I don't really care for looks. Seeing as I want to run this in a simple front bottle setup, I needed some sort of stock. Now ofcourse there's all kinds of expensive adapters and what not available (Actually I got a bunch of them with the guns.) but hey, I wanted to do something special. At first my plan was to replace the plastic bits on the side of the trigger frame with longer metal rods/strips, and at the end, weld another metal rod at a 90* angle to form a stock. However, after looking into this a little further, I found the screws that hole the plastic in place to be rather weedy, and I doubt this could properly support a stock. Now ofcourse I could take out the back block thingy and make some kind of contraption to keep a stock in place, like usually performed on VMs, but that'd get far too complicated and I couldn't be bothered to get a friend to mill it all. What I wanted was a simple, quick sollution. After looking around for materials to make the stock of, I found 4 tubes I got with 2 closets I had bought a few weeks ago. They came with 2 "rails" to hang clothes on each, but since the closets weren't meant to hang clothes in, I didn't put them in. Now, these tubes were about 18" long, the perfect length to make my stock with! They also roughly fit in the "slots" left open after removing the plastic side parts. I cut one of the tubes of at about 1/3'rd lenth. This short piece was to become to but, where as the longer piece was to become the supporting bit to hold it all sturdy in place. Now came the hard part of putting it all together, and since I was too lazy to find the right screws and drills and all, and since I wasn't sure the origenal screws on the gun would support it all anyway, I just taped the crap out of it! Honestly, I was very surprised by how good it turned out. I expected the whole thing to fall apart if you'd hold the gun by it, but it actually feels very solid and strong! Actually better than some "official" stocks that rattle and wobble all the time. To finish it off, I cut 2 old socks apart and wound them around the stock and gun. It actually feels quite comfortable now! This has been one of the best and cheapest mods I've ever done to a gun! Except maybe pollishing my PGP and the internals of my A5. Enough with all the talking, time for pics, so here they are! ![]() Yes, that elbow is made of a piece of brass, a piece of rubber hose and a hose clamp. It's the best elbow I've ever seen! ![]() One 3,5 oz tank is a little small, so I'm debating whether to put a 7 oz tank on it, or 2 3,5 oz tanks. Or maybe a 7 oz and a 3,5 oz... If I go for dual tanks, I'd have to get a friend to make me some sort of a custom vertical asa on his mill since I'd want the 3,5 oz to go vertical with a slight angle, like this: ![]() This gun now goes by the name of Crude!

| Not to thread hijack, but here's the other VM Paperclip is talking about: ![]() Traded it for some stuff, and i've added some goodies to it, and some minor modifications. I'm the guy that will make that extra mount for his 3,5oz. Sorry sander, didnt get on it yet. I'll try to get it done this week.
