Ok, I just picked up two VM's at 20 bucks a piece! SO here are some questions since I havent used one of these since god knows when... First can anyone tell me how old and year these were made 1st s/n 008680 and the second is s/n p052758 Second question is they both have brass barrels with a collar that slides off and is what screws the barrel in place, are these original? Third does anyone have anyafter marker parts or spare originals they want to sell? Fourth what are they worth, and is anyone intrested in the second one? I know Im supposed to give a price, but that is why im asking what they are worth first, cause I dont know. ![]() Both guns appear to be copletly stock and one has taso sight rail, and one is missing the sight bead on the feed neck. both still have the stowawy grips caps still in place. KnightKnight, Sounds like you got a deal. 1. Not sure on the dates, but the first would be first production year, early 90s (I'm lousy with remembered dates). 2. The brass barrels and collars are original. Everyone complains about them, but they aren't bad if you match your paint (medium/small bore, though, around .686). 3. Loads of places to go for parts, if you know where to look. Ron Asp can be found lurking about e-bay, and has a store in Michigan. He has loads of stuff, and knows his stuff, but much of it is shockingly overpriced. I'd recommend Mass extinction paintball, but they seem to have gone the way of the dinosaur, with an order of mine, to boot! Chris Mader seems to be the general all-around VM good-guy of the planet. Ah, Chris, where are ya, man ? . . . . 4. Depends on condition, and of course, what someone is willing to pay. If the mechanicals and seals are in order, and the cosmetics are good you might get 50-75 (and maybe up to 100 or more--if it were a peach) for them, depending on the buyer. I'd probably take one off your hands, but I'm currently sweating the possible demise of my prime source of parts. e-mail or pm me some pics and I still might pick one up. Good luck! --Captain Last edited by Cap'n Newb; 07-31-2008 at 02:54 AM. |

For spare parts check out rcpaintball.com (great service) for upgrades check ebay and specifically the seller ron-asp though his auction are somewhat pricey. Also iisports.com seems to have a load of the back bottle adapters for $9.99 shipped as for barrels they can be pretty hard to find in VM threads but luckily LAPCO is still has VM barrel adapter last time I checked.

The "paint" markings look like a limited run done in the early 90's- My baby is s/n 005749 bought in Milwaukee @ Painball Daves (oldest indoor field in existance..) in '91 (high school graduation gift...) If the guts are good... you can name your own price as spare parts are becoming hard to find. It looks like this one needs some serious T.L.C. I would suggest a "new" upper bolt (I have a 100% teflon one... real slick) and a call to Smart Parts for a "ported" barrel... Mine was one of the first off the line and nearly doubles the effective range... also acts as an (somewhat) effective silencer... you might get lucky. Call Daves in Milwaukee and see if he has any old "upgrades" still around. (414) 271-3004 |

Smart Parts does not have vm barrels anymore and they don't want to rethread barrels either. If someone can make a freak back, that would be your best option. As for parts for these guns, sorry to say, in 5-10 years, these guns are going to be like first gen brass eagle semis today. these days only 2 people have parts...ron asp and palmers. As long as you clean you gun after every play and keep the ball detent clean, your vm should last you 3-8 years of constant play. Welcome! If you need teching tips, let me know. I know the vm-68 very well. warmly, Smiley Quote:

For the barrel, check out Python. (Python Paintball, Give Your Balls A Squeeze) He doesn't have it on the site but I know he has made VM threaded barrel kits that allow you to use Autococker barrels. You may also want to pick up a trigger shoe for comfort. You can usually find these pretty easy off ebay.
