| Phat. | Best detent type for a VM?
What would you gents say is the best, most durable detent type for a VM68? I might be acquiring a pretty cherry one in the near future and want to use a proper detent in place of the lame ball fingers... Edit: In case it wasn't clear, I'm sending the body in to be modified to accept this new detent.

I am looking to see what the threads are for a cocker detent. I have an old VM to test this theory out with and can let you know if it's successful. That would be my best suggestion. Otherwise, the "magic fingers" are available at PPS.

What about wire detents? I know Spyder types are good for blowbacks, but I'm not sure if that little nub is gonna hold up to all that mass slamming back and forth. I could just be underestimating though. I'm also not a fan of cocker detents on a BB. They get dirty and crap out on our rental Spyder fleet all the time.

don't do it. the wall is too thick on the body. You would have to countersink just to make the ball detent poke into the break, but the breach is too big for the ball detent to keep the ball in place. If you do try, placement is key, but it's not 100% effective and you have another hole in the vm ![]() Smiley |

A wire detent could be done using the existing detent system. You could hold it in place with the screws for the rubber detent, and just bend it into place, couldn't you?
