Well, I broke a Car-68 yesterday and I need to fix it. The ASA was leaking so I pulled it off and threw on an o-ring and tightened it up. I made it snug then gave it about 1/8th of a turn and it was still leaking so I went to give it another 1/8th turn and it broke off. The whole reason I was working on it was because the guy brought it to show me it since we had talked about all the other cool things he has and he knew I had an interest in it. Were talking about it and he says its leaking so I offer to take a look at it.....Godamn I feel like an *** for breaking it. At leas he was understanding and very cool about it but I NEED to get this fixed, I would love nothing more than to find stock parts somewhere and get this back to factory but I am looking at options. If anyone has one of these or can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thank you.

I'm not sure if you will ever find a replacement CAR-68. They were fairly rare to begin with, and only made for a short time in the mid 90s. But how did the asa attach to the body? If its with a simple 1/8", then you might be able to use a generic minicocker adapter as a replacement. The Carter-Vms would drill a vertical port large enough to accomodate the stock ASA. In that case, it might be easier to replace.

Its 3/8-16 thread, I can screw my valve tool into the hole. Its a bit of an oddball part, I'm working on pics for this now. The asa piece is 2 parts, one is a cut up asa with a threaded insert to adapt it to the body. I WISH it was 1/8npt, I wouldn't have a problem at all. I could buy an off the shelf piece if I had no alternative.

Well, I finally uploaded some pics, Car68 Gallery This is the exact piece I am looking for, I just got a message from Tracy_Ptp and they are going to take a look for me......I REALLY want to return this to its owner at ION this year. If anyone has this part or a beat up(or not) Car68 the would be willing to part with I would be in your debt. Thank you
