My VM68 is setup with a steal braid hose running from the ASA to the bottom line very much like this one. I find that I tend to hold the hose while playing. I am afraid that I will break the seal on either the ASA or the gas fitting. I also feel that this is not the most stable way to shoot. I was thinking about getting a Lapco expansion chamber as it would look good and is relatively cheap. However I rarely run with CO2 so it would be extraneous. What do you cats think of double regulating on the VM? I used to double reg on my old Impulse but that was a low pressure marker and if memory serves my VM runs at about 600 to 700 psi. What other options are there? Thanks, David |

Could always mount a gas thru grip verticaly off the bottom material behind the asa and hold that. There should be plenty of aluminum to mount one easily enough. Or get a universal for grip that mounts to the barrel, then you'll hold that instead of the line.

Maybe add an adapter that allows the gass thru grip to screw into the ASA at a 90 degree.

Double regging - not a good idea. You'll end up starving the VM. To double-reg properly, you need at least a spread of 200 psi between regs, and you won't be able to do that, since the VM needs at least 700psi to operate. If you're handy with a drill and tapping holes, you could always installed a vertical adapter into the lower tube of the VM - get a Minicocker vertical adapter, drill and tap a 1/8NPT hole. That would allow you to install a vertical grip of some sort. Something I might do, I'm not decided yet. I really like the Black Rain EXC I've got on there now. BTW - PPS sells an adapter like someone mentioned, that allows you to run a tank or gas-thru grip/reg at 90* from the ASA. Could always get that, and avoid any permanent mods to the VM. Jordan

I the only 90 ASA adapter that I know of is the Cooper-T and the Palmer version and Cooper-T is no longer with us. Though Cooper-T parts are floating around or collecting dust at local paintball shops. The Palmer one is {gulp} $50! All other 90 ASA's that I have seen are machined for the specific model of marker and the male end is not ASA threaded. I bet a pipe clamp, mini-ris rail, a folding grip, and a bit of imagination and you could have the best of both worlds. A horizontal and a vertical grip. |

Thank you for the reminder about double regging. I had forgotten that you need a 200 psi spread. It is all coming back to me. I haven't played in something like 6 years. I am handy enough with a drill and tap. I should have a 1/8NPT size tap around too. However I would like to mill out a flat section on the bottom of the marker, around the 1/8NPT hole, to mate better with the flow through grip and I have no idea how to do that. Drilling dead center on the bottom of the marker would be a challenge too. Wait a 1/8NPT fitting is about 1/4" (eyeballed) across right? They are the standard hosing for paintball markers? I just noticed that PPS carries both 1/4 and 1/8 NPT. I also noticed that they have a male to female 1/8NPT extension. That would give me the clearance I need to mount my flow through grip to my 90 degree fitting that is connected to my ASA adapter. About PPS. I would love to order some stuff from them, including ball detents/magic fingers, but cost of shipping from them to Canada is criminal! How can they get away with charging $24 USD for shipping of a magic fingers? Thanks, David Quote:

1/4 NPT and 1/8 NPT are vastly different threads. Yes, the 1/8 NPT is what paintball fittings usually are, and they're roughly 1/4" in diameter. Got a picture of the setup? Jordan
