So what is the ultimate Angel.

I've been out of paintball for a few years. I have a 2K LCD and a 2K1 Fly LCD and am kind of sad to learn that WDP is no more. So what I'm wanting to know is when did they make their best gun? I'm not talking about the aesthetics of a certain run of milling, but rather when did the Angel reach it's performance pinnacle, and is that gun worth owning today?

The peak for me was my 2007 A1 which has been upgraded with WDP/APS parts to include full Magno internals, Boost2 bolt, D-Lite cupseal, and Mojo board. Operating pressure is rock bottom, and it shoots well over a case on a 68/45.

Technically some would say the A1 Fly (slightly different body, some of the aforementioned parts included) but it's essentially the same marker. Others would point to the Fly SB (all of the aforementioned parts, no rotobreech) but it functions the same, and I don't even count that as an Angel - it also wasn't in production for long.

Many feel that the G7 was a better marker than the A1.

Early A1 models had issues as do most 1st run items but later production units seemed to have taken care of that.

I had an A1 that had some of the upgrades and it worked fine.
Should have kept it.

Out of the box in 2007 I'd agree completely.

That said, APS did some space-age **** to the A1 platform in later years, and those upgrades were compatible with all of the A1s (from 2006 forward, right up to the SB and the tactical mess).

Did they stay with the vertical grip? I always kind of lusted after the vertical grip as I have broken my wrists and find a 45 grip uncomfortable sometimes.

The A1 did not have a 90* frame.

So if I want the nicest vert grip Angel, should I be going for an IR3?
