Hmm...looks fun. I think I'll try and make that, but not sure which day.

Just something cool...at least to me. Dragon Lady, a U-2 is supposed to be at this air show. Today, cruising over Eastern Ohio/ Western NY at 45,000 feet I heard an interesting plane check in. The callsign was "Dragon 99" and he was checking in "Above Flight Level 600" (above 60,000 feet). I don't know for sure but it was probably that U-2. Not much can get up there. It was a bit surpriseing that they were transmitting on VHF though.

U2's are kind of known as 'Dragon Lady' in general, kinda how they call F-16 Falcons 'Raptors'. Supposedly it's because they are very tricky to handle, particularly landing.

Learn something new every day! Cool.

Beale Air Force Base is not too far from here. I see U-2's all the time driving Highway 20.
Used to see SR-71s a lot too before they were retired.

I used to commute from Rocklin to Yuba City every day, so I saw many U2's coming in on final approach. They hate to stop flying so they have to make a long gradual descent, otherwise they pick up too much speed and won't descend. Did that make sense? I don't think so but you know what I mean.
