MQ1 wont fire

Ok i picked up an mq valve a few months back and still cant get this thing to work.

I install it into the gun, and drop in a few suggested settings into the eblade and all the thing does is vent air out the bottom of the solenoid.

Everything is pointing towards a stuck poppet but ive put in a fresh 010 oring from a good oring kit and fresh lube and it still wont do anything besides chuff air out the bottom.

Ive tried adjusting the pressure from 200 psi all the way till it starts to vent on it's own, ive tried leaving the valve set screw out and still the same thing.

Is there anyone out there that can confirm for me that it is a stuck poppet and that there isnt anything else it could be before i spend the money on a mq valve oring rebuild kit?

I'd post this on custom cockers but they wont validate my account

When i finally bought and installed my mq2 and tried suggested settings off of the KAJohnson.com website i ran into multiple problems and they sound alot like yours. I instead just put settings on factory fast(the way it was before i swapped out my lowers for th mq2 valve)and now it shoots absolutely beautiful. On site it said that for an E2 the settings would be a good place to start(they would have you adjust coff and con) but for me they just did not work at all.

Sounds like you need a new pilot seal. If the solenoid has been opened then the edge that the housing cuts into the pilot seal will cause a leak like that. 99% of the time there is no reason to open the solenoid but in most cases it is curiosity and no real documentation saying that it is a bad idea. Glue on a new seal and put a little dow 33 on it and that leak should go away and it will have the proper pressure to function the poppet valve. Also make sure it is a brand new battery as they are very touchy with anything less than 8.9v. I used brand new energizers before I got my 9.6v rechargeable's as they last much longer. The Mq valves eat batteries pretty quick as my Karnivor with an MQ2 would shoot almost two cases before it gets too low so pretty much a new battery every time I go play.

Thanks both people for answers. Ive tried the factory fast route and still no dice.

and on the pilot seal, when i recieved the valve it did have that problem, but i already glued the tiny seal back on. My problem is that the gun does not leak even slightly until i bump it to something like 400 psi. It's firing the marker that is my problem, every time i pull the trigger i only hear a light chuff, i can feel the air venting out the solenoid part (like i believe it's supposed to, it relieves pressure behind the poppet so that the reg input pressure overcomes the balanced pressure and shoves the poppet back with a burst of air through the bolt). I had a guage on the front testing all this and it wont fire through 150 to 400 psi.

Is the solenoid housing blue or silver? Some of the original MQ1 were made in China and people had problems with them. I will need to check as I cant remember off hand which color the Chinese made ones were.

I had the same problem, and eventually ditched the valve and bought mq2
(this was before they were made from unobtainium)

I think I had some success when I swapped all the o-rings and the spring too. Someone here sold a complete repair kit.

A quote straight from KA Johnson.

"I would not recommend buying a used PBX mQ-Valve, especially the silver colored ones, unless the price is very low. These valves were very easy to damage and often were defective from the factory."
