So I got a Sniper today

No not an Empire a 1987 Sniper 1 (SN#898). The whole thing started when one of the guys I work with noticed the "I Play Pump" sticker on my truck. He asked if it meant paintball and I said yes, he then said he had an old pump gun from way back. I told him if he ever wants to get rid of it let me know. He hands it to me and tells me if I can use it it's mine. I open the box and there is a near mint Sniper with stock, wood grips, bottle and hardline assembly. I haven't measured it to see if it is a .62 or .68 but I am pretty sure it is a .68. Best part is it was free!!!!

I will post pics tonight after work

Side note were the barrels threaded on the early Snipers? I tried to unscrew it but it didn't want to budge.

Heres the barrel and the bolt

Barrel is probably glued in with red Nelson paint from 1987, post cured in the Arizona heat.

Seriously- shoot a little WD-40 in the crack where the barrel meets the receiver. Wait 12 hours then try unscrewing the barrel. A strap wrench and a padded vise will help.

Seriously nice gun, by the way.

Thanks guys, I literally got it at lunch put it in my truck, pump it twice to see if it works (dry fires) looked at the serial and then found the stamp on the body.

I figured as much for the barrel, I just didn't play around with it very long. Yeah that old Nelson paint was brutal, I think this gun spent most its life in Cali before coming here.

Nice looking pump.....

As others said, spray some WD-40 and wait few hours...

That is a really nice vintage piece. I think you need to buy your friend lunch (at least)

Did you get the barrel off? I love the old ribbed barrels (for her pleasure) They gave the sniper some style

Got the barrel off, took WD and a bench vise. Luckly I didn't scar it at all.

Shot it over a chrono with some crap paint, with HPA it was shooting 275 to 280 (un reg'd). Strokes a bit tight, should smooth out over time.
