The front hole, I attempted to keep it out of the breach. Thing was, it was forward enough that it just started breaking into the transition where the barrel is. No harm, no foul; as the barrel covers that area up.
The rear screw, I did break through by accident. I was originally trying to thread it for a 6-32, but the threads stripped out quickly (didn't have a good blind tap).
Using the screw that came with the CCI feedtube, you'll be able to tap more threads than is necessary for that bolt and still not penetrate into the inner bore. Same with the rear screw. 2-3 turns in with a 8-32 was plenty to make it solid, and not come close to breaking through.
Ghetto Top Tip:
For a bottom tap, I was able to use an electrical 4" square box's provided screw. It's a screw with a tapping edge, and cut into the aluminum nice and clean. I had to back the screw out often, roughly 1/4-1/2 turn then back out the chips; but it did work well.
