| why cockers so cheap? like the title says, why are autocockers going so cheap now days. Are they closing or what? I just bought my first cocker a month ago. its a black tac trilogy and I LOVE it. I liked it so much I bought another one and converted it into a sniper with PMP inc. kit. And I'm getting ready to order few more. I just wish I would have gotting into autocockers sooner. I've hade snipers but never a cocker before. I'd hate to see them close their doors. |

| Sunstar Paramedics Slave | Market is flooded in my opinion. Resale value plummets due to that. I don't see WGP/K2 closing soon. But someday they will in the upcoming years due to lack of sales, and get bought up by some other large company.

| MCB Member | K2 was bought out they are emptying their warehouses before the new company takes over, the traditional style Autocockers as we know is finish, the WGP is too valuable a brand name to them to close down, so they will have some else to replace it in the near future. |

| Poor 'cocker guys... By making crappy cockers so cheap, K2 is effectively driving down the cost of nice non-custom cockers. The only upside? $75 cockers with no eye holes!

| That happened a while ago, didn't it? I don't really keep up with the Agg croud, but 'Cocker's probably have to much kick and weigh too much for their puny little hands. |

| MCB Member | wgps going away from making what we think of autocockers and going more towards the ego and excaliber styles as well as trilogies for the low end. they are blowing out the warehouse on the previous models. as far as what the pbn kiddies think, anything that isn't "new" and "redesigned" each year is obsolete and useless. no pro teams use them so they have to suck. and of course they think a few ounces is a lot.

| One other big issue, is despite what people say it is very hard to break an autococker. And Since they were at one point by far the most common paintball marker on the tournament scene (just go watch the 2000 or 2001 world cup, even though Angels where the big name guns for every Angel you see, you can see 3 cockers). This means that effectively there has been a massive cumulative effect of oversupply of the market. Unlike the cockers early rival the Automag*, the cocker from about 98 on never really had an upgrade (aside from electronics) that became so 'must have' that it really changed the buying publics perception of performance. See, planned obsolescence is required for the current market. Egos, Shockers, and Matrixes all have to change style every year so that in two or three years time something is "out of style" and needs to be replaced. On the cheaper end of things, markers either have to break or get them to buy an upgraded model to get more money. there are a few exceptions of course, Tippmann makes a good reliable entry level marker that players spend money on customizing, and that keeps a fair amount of cash flowing even if the person doesn't buy another M98 or upgrade to an X-7 or A-5.. Airgun Designs is the perfect example. Their markers are durable, and very easy to maintain, and an Automag from 1991 performs much the same as a 2007 Automag classic. So many have been produced and are still out there that classic mags have very little value. This is one of the reasons why AGD isn't so financially sound as loyal customers are still satisfied from their 1996 purchase and have no need of a new automag. WGP was much the same way, but since they are not family owned anymore, I expect them to start building guns so as that they either break or go out of style. *Would like to point out that AGD changed the publics perception of performance, with upgrades, so much so that some upgrades, such as an X-valve are frequently worth double an entire automag classic.... |
