Lightning or superbolt info?

Anyone have the low down on either the Lightning or Superbolt cockers from Psycho Ballistics? I see they go for really cheap but they don't have that bad a review on PBReview but I'm sure I've heard bad things bout them.

Anyone have any info on them?

They are a bad clone of a dye cocker, bad tolerances, but a pretty case.

So I guess the tolerances would make it a crap shoot with putting pump kits on as well then? I was basically looking for a cheap cocker to play around with when my mag is out getting annoed then turn into a sniper. Would this work? Or would I be better off trying to find a used prostock or pre-99 cocker?

They work, and can be a good base to tinker with, but there are lots of other cheap cockers out there to do the same.

Keep your eyes on the forums - a cocker w pump kit just went for $90 today.

As long as you're ready to jump on it - you'll find something decent and for cheap.

I love the body milling on them, there is tolerance issues and little quirky things like the grip frame screws being 10-24 instead of 10-32. The grip frame itself is thinner than any cocker frame I've seen. In fact the grips that come on them are slightly pressed to fit. Excepts panel grips most of your grip wont work on it unless you dont mind the rubber protruding out. They're cheap so their good halfblock projects

I currently have a lightning cocker with a pump kit on it. With a Reg it shoots exceptionally well. Here's a pic:

I've never understood the animosity towards PB. I ended up through some "can't afford to say no" deals getting 3 Superbolts and they are mostly great guns. I looked into the pneumatics that everyone hates and when I got the opportunity to get the real Dye stuff from a bargain table I thought I had it made. Imagine my shock when I found out that the Dye stuff is exactly the same as the PB stuff.

The only other thing I didn't like was the trigger frames. But that's not because they don't feel OK. It's the odd trigger angles that Dye designed them with.

The only other weak point is the barrels are sized to drive volkswagens through them. But oddly enough I did my wire detent mod to one thinking that I had nothing to loose. This hunk of water main shoots darts! ! I even lent it to a guy and he came back raving about the fabled 'cocker accuracy and how nice they shoot because of the need for the barrel fit. I didn't bother telling him the truth.

So I say go for it. The Superbolt is super light and the Lightning comes stock with a Delrin bolt. The only other issue I know of is that RussC managed to end up with a bent valve pin. But mine are fine.

My main cocker is my black Superbolt. Some changes to remove the chrome where done to suit my tastes moreso than out of need.

And if you're doing a pump then it'll be fine.
