postential retarded barrel question

Do autococker barrels have an oring at the back where it meets the marker? I have heard a few people mention something like that. I have 3 barrels and none of them have orings.

no.

Granted some people put on a tank oring to keep it from working its way loose. I do. It puts a small amount of "spring force" and keeps the barrel snug. It is not necessary at all.

Some do and some dont. You should have a groove for one. A quick trip tot he hardware store should fix it.

None of mine do either. I've never seen one with an o-ring.

I put them on those that don't, but most of my barrels have them regardless of threading or design. They serve double-duty by making sure the barrel doesn't come loose, and preventing "overthreading" or "lockup" of the barrel in the marker. As a PTP fan, I buy tons of Micromags and old cockers, and most come shipping with the barrel wedged in to the very last micrometer and stuck like Chevy truck in 2" of snow.

Some have machining for the O ring. My oldish (2002) dye boomstick has an O ring slot machined in. Its very nice and means the barrel will seat more accurately. Most all of them do not have this groove anymore. I think it is beneficial to have an o ring on the barrel, but I dont put them on all of my barrels either, laziness..plus the fact that i dont have a nice sized one on hand all the time.

yeah, I drop one on every barrel - if you get stretchy enough tank o-rings you can force them on - they stretch pretty thin - so sit tight to the barrel.

keeps things from working loose while you run.
