making a knockoff

I'm thinking of taking a psychobalistics Lightning or superbolt cocker and putting a new set of pneumatics on it. Are the pneumatics the only bad parts on it, or is the rest of the gun **** too, also who makes better pneumatics, ans, or kapp.

If they're the ones I'm thinking of, the whole thing is crap - the tolerances are very sloppy.

As far as pneumatics go, they're all pretty much the same - save yourself some money and get a set of STO pneumatics - they're basically stockers, with some flash, and they work great.

I've got a STO 3-way, which is just a nickeled WGP stock 3-way - never had any problems with, fairly short switch length, etc. The rams and LPR's are excellent too - unless you're looking for the last bit of speed, they'll do you fine.

To answer your question - I prefer a KAPP set, if I have to choose between the two.

Or you could get the Palmers front block complete with all the pneumatics. Looks very classy.

I was thinking about this recently as well. From reading PBreview(not the most reliable source), I gathered that it was made in the same factory as the Dye Cockers and it was just milled a bit differently.

Overpriced. Buy it all used, much cheaper.

I've heard mixed things about the pysco cockers. I'd buy a used WGP before those any day.

I've heard that the valve may or may not be interchangeable with WGP spec valves. The tolerances are terrible.

The valves are interchangeable. The tolerances are bad enough to get valves stuck inside to the point where you have to shoot them out with tank pressure, though. The gripframe screw threading is also different - I noticed they were susceptible to stripping.

I know Russ had an issue with a valve pin bending but I've not had any issues with mine.

My main cocker is a PB Superbolt. At this point I've totally swapped out the pneumatics but when I was using the stock parts they worked acceptably other than the 3 way being a little weepy. A cycle or two and it would re-seal but now and then it would hiss slightly between shots.

The only issue with the bodies is the funky 10-24 screw sizes for the trigger frames. It makes finding the nice screws a bother. One day I'll probably helicoil them for 10-32 so it's standard.

While the PB bodies are nice as the basis for a project gun if you wanted it to run straight from the box I believe there's other options that would be better. The ANS parts I have all are nice enough that if you can justify the cost for a full ANS cocker I'd recomend them without reservation.
