| Rec Poster | Riddle me this, oddball nelson conversion Ok, so I just received another box of ex rental markers and there are two that have me stumped. They are stainless body nelson conversions, have a brown plastic pump handle with "Nelson 007" on them, back bottle, and an oddball feed neck. The thing that REALLY throws me off is the removable barrel with autococker threads ![]() I have two of whatever they are, and they were mixed in with a box of much more mundane long barrel back bottle pump 007's. Anyone have a clue what I am dealing with? |

| Endearingly quirky | They could be the 'Challenger' conversion. It was a new body for a 007 that featured a longer barrel. I don't remember if the barrel is detachable.

| Anything with AC threadss is most likely a Ranger. The pump handle is a standerd nelson unit from the sound of things. Are the grip frames Nelson/powerline? Weird feedneck? I really need pictures to make any sort of conclution as judging from what you have posted you could have anything from a parts gun to a WGP pro45. EDIT and they arent challengers, as those were plastic with a brass lined removable barrell |

| the real definitive mark would be the front body screw and the amount it extends over the valve. Carter Buzzard (cocker threaded) "Snubs" are usually held in place by a collar and normally dont have a treaded hole for a front body screw. Also a carter snub extends over the valve so far that the rear frame screw passes through the body on its way into the valve. Carter snubs dont normally have feednecks, but with carter making these by hand I wouldnt put it past him. Of course one could be modified to no fit these specifications. Ranger Bodies (usually) have a lenth of threded rod in place of a front body screw, and have some sort of nut to tighten the assembly from the bottom. These bodies IIRC extend to but stop short of the rear frame screw, like phantoms and trracers. The feed neck is more above the body, to accomidate the dual pump arms. Doc Nickle has been know to make custom stainless ranger bodies. A custom 007 body would (probably) just use one pump arm slot and just fit over the lip of the valve, usually with some sort of screw to hold the valve body to the reciever. some pics would really help a lot... |
