500GB External HDD

I've got this Western Digital 500GB My Book external hard drive that I need to get rid of, it is in practically new condition, I took it out of the packaging, plugged it in, and then discovered that it will not play nice with my Mac. Works great with Windows computers.

Price: $85 shipped!

I'm more interested in $, but if you have an interesting trade, PM me and I'll look at it.

It is a USB 2.0 drive, sorry about forgetting that part.

You need not install software if you use it with a mac. The software it comes with isn't really drivers, its backup software. I do suggest that you reformat it for mac if that is your intended use unless you need to use it for windows too. If its gotta be windows too, formatting NTFS or FAT32 are your best bets and will work with just about anything (FAT32 is a little more universal than NTFS but all current versions of windows support this).

Well it's sold anyway, but thanks. It was formatted for Mac, it would screw up the sleep function. It's apparently a well known issue.

That's funny, I have 3 of the exact same drives and they are formatted hfs+ which should be compatible with a mac. They were originally designed to work with a mac and then the firmware to make them compatible with a PC was added later....Only issues I had with mine were they get HOT, real hot. Anyway, good luck with your sale.

Hehehe.

I remember the Corvus 5Mb 8" drive for the XT. I think the original price was about $2400.00. Like having 30 180K diskettes at your fingertips!
