Or a combination of Grease and Enlarge. Nothing like taking out a band of goblins by greasing a gully or steep hill then starting an avalanche of pebbles and casting "Grow" on them. =) Also worked with Dimension Door.

If you haven't clued the DM eventually disallowed me the use of Dimension Door on any caster class.

I liked playing unusually large creatures that use smaller opponents as weapons, thus doubling the effective attack rate free

I've always rather enjoyed secretly putting faerie fire on the thief right before you send him sneaking into an orc camp.

I always enjoyed Caster Classes. I also enjoyed digging through mountains of source material for strange or little used spells just to be different. Sheesh this is starting to turn into the Pen and Paper version of the paintballers True Confessions thread. =)

Anyone else ever turned a wall of force on its side while anchoring it to some walls to decapitate a charging foe? Or have a DM declare a "No Raise Undead" rule because you kept animating your slain foes and soon had an army at your beck and call?

Animate dead is the coolest spell ever. I love playing necro-casters. They're my bread and butter.

Second Editions rocked for Necromancers. =) I still have the necromancers Handbook. Ohh the headaches I caused our DM when he allowed me access to in in game. "Dead Mans Eyes" Ohhh what a hell of a spell combine that with the spell command and tell them to LOOK. hehe Or if you where high enough in level Death Shroud. Animate Dead and cover it with Death Shroud. Talk about being an evil bastard. I also liked to combine Animate dead with Bone Bind and Death Shroud and then levitate or dimension door. =) Drop the ball of skeletons on your living enemy let bone bind dissipate unleashing the squad of shrouded undead. =)

The problem with 4E isn't that it's worse than 3.5 DnD. It's that it's not really DnD anymore. Everything has been worked to act like an MMORPG. Much of the "useless," "complicated," and "superfluous" stuff was removed, streamlining and simplifying so that there's no muss, no fuss. The problem comes from the fact that the stuff they removed is really what made DnD. Roleplaying, non-combat situations, spells designed for things other than fighting and (possibly) exploring, most of that is gone. It's not that bad of a game...it's just not DnD
