ITT Night Quest Gen 3 night vision monocular FS

OK, here's one for you guys...

I have a very nice 3rd generation NOD that I need to sell. Here's a picture of the entire setup:

The kit includes the scope, a 3x telephoto lens with adapters, long-range IR iilluminator, a headgear mount, owner's manuals and carrying cases.

The Night Quest 160 is a high-quality, third-generation NOD, manufactured by ITT (the company that makes the majority of the night vision equipment used by the US military). It uses the same optics as their military models (such as the PVS-14), but in a more user-friendly design for the civilian market. This particular model has a very high-quality tube. There is one tiny black spot in the field of view, about half the size of the period at the end of this sentence. No other blemishes at all. In fact, the image quality is better than either of the actual military-spec units I've had the chance to test.

This is actually a pretty poor representation of the image from this scope; I simply held up a camera lens to the eyepiece of the unit to take the picture. It's basically just intended to give you an idea of what it looks like.

The unit has all the features you'd expect from one of ITT's devices: automatic bright light protection circuit, rugged, waterproof construction (it even floats, though I haven't tested that feature...) It uses two AAA batteries, and is in excellent condition overall. I bought it for paintball use, but have never taken it on the field.

The set comes with the optional ITT long-range IR illuminator with mounting bracket. Unlike most illuminators built into lower-quality units, or available separately, this illuminator can be focused for use at long ranges. Also unlike most IR units (including IR LED's and filtered flashlights), the ITT unit projects NO visible light when operating. The only way to tell that it's switched on is to look through the scope. There's no red glow, such as I've seen with every other IR illumination system I've tried.

My unit also comes with the optional 3x telephoto lens kit, which allows for magnification of the image up to 3 times. The adapter that connects the lens to the unit can also be used to connect a wide range of common camera lenses, for whatever magnification level you might be looking for.

The head mount that I'm including is an ATN unit. I don't have an adapter that will mount this particular scope to the headgear; I was going to make an adapter that would clear a paintball mask. I'm including the head-strap unit in case the buyer wants to go the same route. The mount has quite a few fit and alignment adjustments, and is more comfortable to wear than I would have expected.

I'm looking for $1600 for everything. If you've been looking to get into Gen 3 night vision, here's your chance to pick up a very high-quality US-made monocular, with plenty of accessories, for less than you might pay for a questionable foreign-made or rebuilt device, or a little bit more than a good 2nd generation unit.

Any questions, contact me via PM here, or at kemikos@gmail.com. I'm happy to allow inspections, if you happen to be in the Chicago area. Payment must be in cash (if in person), Paypal, postal money order, or official check (the last two will be held until my bank is sure they won't be returned, possibly as long as 10 business days). Sorry, no trades at this time (if I didn't need to raise some cash, I wouldn't sell it...)

Thanks for looking!

Could you shoot a pic looking out into woods or something? Just looking for how the quality is at a distance.

I'll try. I took that picture during the day, so the only place I could really get a picture in the dark was in the garage with the doors closed.
