Early Shoebox Compressor 4500 psi - needs some work

    (SOLD!)

    Hello MCB,

I have one of the original 4500 psi Shoebox Compressors by Tom Kaye, likely number 29 based on the hand-engraving, see the picture on the upper right inside part. This compressor takes air at 100-ish psi from a household air compressor (not included) and pumps that, very slowly, up to 4500 psi. A 68 ci 4500 psi tank would take 4 hours or so. Later versions of the Shoebox were much faster than this.

The last time I used it, about 3 years ago, there was a small leak in the purge valve. Support sent me this, but I never bothered to troubleshoot it:
In reading back through the e-mails I see you have rebuild your compressor so this problem is not uncommon after that. What has happened is a small piece of dirt or some thing has been dislodged and got between a small ball and a o ring in the vent chamber. We take the vent rod out and put some alcohol in the hole and if possible use a small wire to push the ball down so the alcohol will get into the little chamber behind the ball then put some air pressure back on it and see if it will seal, be carful it will try to blow the alcohol back at your face, if this does not work the entire air block will have to come out and cleaned out from the back side, if you do not feel comfortable doing this on your own here is my name number and email give me a call I will be glad to try to walk you through it. If you have 3 white 1/8 in O-rings you will not need any parts, that is what is in there for seals.

The compressor is being sold as-is because of this, hopefully my price reflects this, I welcome feedback if you think it is too high. I am asking $300, plus actual shipping. UPS Ground should be around $35.

Included is a fill hose with a 5000 psi gauge built by Tuna.
