I had a couple of these a long while back, I think I got it from an early-generation-MCB'er, and it included the ultra-rare reloading kit.

I have, since, spent a good deal of time pondering how one could make new shells, possibly to take the .40 cal "blowgun" paint that's still supposedly available, which a couple of people have said is about the right size.

The trick is that when the cases fire, the little metal bits that hold the primer can pop out, and are lost. This gets worse the more the cases are fired.

I've drawn up a couple of possible ideas, where the case "captures" the primer parts where they can't be lost. I haven't actually made one, let alone tested any, and I'm not sure it'd be worth it. Unless we could do a massive bulk- buy of parts from somebody who has fast "Swiss" turning centers, to try and keep the price down, I could see cases being $3-$5 each.

Even a buck each- and we'd likely have to order a quarter of a million to get that kind of price- starts getting expensive for a gun you can't actually use on the field due to high velocities and no adjuster.

I always wondered if these things could be adjusted and my guess was no...nice to finally have that confirmed.

Man, a primer-powered full-auto paintslinger that looks exactly like a MAC-10...80s era paintball was a whole vibe.

Nope, no adjuster. I've heard people suggest trying different primers, but I doubt that'd do anything. The only thing I could think of to limit velocities would be to maybe drill some vent holes in the barrel, just ahead the cartridge. Vent some of the pressure behind the ball.

No idea if that'd work, and chances are you'd want to make it adjustable somehow, but it's an idea. A moot one without a supply of ammo, but still...
