What to do with uncomfortable Emek foregrip..

    Saw it off of course!

I like the way the emek shoots buy I can't stand the rectangular long reach foregrip. Just felt like I had to stick my elbow out. So I decided to make an attempt at a more comfortable grip option.

First things first I chopped the grip off and filed/sanded it until it was flush with the receiver.

Next up i grabbed a scrap piece of 3/16 aluminum and got to making a reinforcement/mounting plate for my picatinny rail. Theres a nice lip in the front area above the grip for the plate to sit against and the back end has reinforcement ribs so its all nice and supported. Later I may epoxy it all together.

After I drilled and tapped the plate to accept some 10-32 screws I laid it in the tray and marked for the rear hole. Drilled that out. It happened to fall right in the middle of one of the diamond shaped reinforcement ribs. From there the rail was bolted through and voila picatinny foregrip mount. I'm still waiting on the grips I ordered to show up so I can do any final trimming and stuff, but it feels like a success.

        Hah, goddamn "worker" accessories.
Quite popular with the Nerf people

Nice work. Printed body demands matching printed grip.

Looks good. I thought you were going to go to a more permanent grip like the Northern Custom Works. Having the rail is a good idea in case you want to change it later.

I may do that in the future. A friend of mine just picked up a printer.

Nice work on that. Really like the look with the rail and give you lots of mounting. One of those giant bipods will fit perfectly on that!

Haha. To be honest I have no idea about the emek aftermarket. Somebody listed some 3d printed bodies on the emek Facebook group and I ended up buying the lot of them. Keeping this one and a green twister/ripper looking one.

Lots of basement dwellers are making knock off bodies..... Long story short I've been doing SLS printed bodies since 2018 and have had a endorsed twister body from 2020...... Then came the biters

Those grips are what led me to this idea. I've seen a couple others where people chopped the grip off where the pocket on top ends and then bolted a grip through the hole. I figured, in the effort to make it more comfortable, having adjustment can't be bad.

Funny I was thinking with a stubby barrel and a 10rd stick feed I could have a tactical pistol.

                  Or mount a q loader.... 💡

Pretty sure you could fit an entire Emek in a Q-loader pod.

The grips are made by a company called Worker. They came up as foregrips for nerf guns of all things. But they're picatinny specs.

Thinking I might try dyeing the clear grip to match the grey.

I was wondering if you'd get a clear one.

Played recball with this today. So much more comfortable than the stock grip.

Thanks I ordered up some for myself.
On your clear to grey idea, I have a possibility for you. Try paint color matching and spray the inside of the handle. The grey will show through and if it looks weird - you can still dye it later.
Just thinking of ways I've painted clear R/C bodies in the past.
Great looking Emek by the way!
