    Aperture3D's Printed Paintball Projects

Hello everyone, it is good to be back! Formerly known as Spankopotomous, I hope to share my past and future projects here for public access.

I hope to eventually make many if not all of these designs available free to download on PrusaPrinters, Thingiverese, etc. In the meantime feel free to message me if you would like any files for personal use. Please contact me if you are considering my designs for commercial use.
Remember, we are a Community, please don't cause any trouble. ๐Ÿ˜‰

First here are a few posts I am recreating from before the "Collapse".

My first projects were all printed in PLA (Polylactic Acid) based plastics. This material is great for prototyping as it is affordable and easy to work with. Sadly in warm temperatures (+70C) or even direct sunlight, these parts become dimensionally unstable. No one wants to find melted parts in their car.

Freak and Freak XL Autococker threaded "Thunderbarrels"
Essentially a one piece freak insert capable barrel with a trumpet tip, and they are distractingly loud.

Autococker to Autococker threaded XL adapter for Freak barrels. There are a few examples of these on the market, but this affordable alternative was a fun and simple CAD project.

The Fused Filament Fabrication process can leave a visible seam where the nozzle rises each layer, but this can be minimized by tuning print settings.

I honestly want to figure out a "whistle" tip/barrel, simply for the awe factor!

Haha, no matter what I put on that damn thing, it's just loud. How much for one of these? I'd like to louder my loud relic.

Shot you a pm, since this is a "presale".

To all those interested, I will post everything available for purchase on my Etsy and Ebay pages. If the mods allow, I plan to create a thread in the B/S/T where I can give MCB forum members better deals.

Still tuning my print settings, but now printing products in PETG. Polyethylene terephthalate glycol is a thermoplastic polyester with great chemical resistance, durability, and a glass transition temperature of around 88 C or 190 F. This material won't warp or discolor in direct sunlight and should be durable enough for most future products.

Many designers have created 3D Printed Freak Insert Holders; this is my simple slimline design that holds 7 Inserts with a finger tight friction fit secured by a 1.5 turn threaded and knurled cap.

Dude that is a sexy freak holder! I took a stab at designing one to use the minimal amount of PLA it was like 35g, but scrapped the design since I don't use temp resistant materials, and it was ugly. This is niceeee. Plus the extra mass will make it more temp resistant than my flimsy 4x4 stack of cylinders.

Thank you I really appreciate it! I love all of your designs, so praise coming from you means a lot! I recently bought a full stainless XL kit that came with the pizza box case and I knew I could do better. I really like how this design shares the profile of a revolver cylinder... which has me thinking...other future projects...

I scrapped a few ideas before stopping here. This design is the smallest thing I could imagine holding all 7 inserts from the kit. It is a BEEFY all day print that needs dried PETG filament, but it is one of my favorite projects to date. I have a few PLA prototypes that came out beautifully, but I'll hand them out to friends and will have to eventually replace them with PETG replacements.

On a side note, I highly suggest experimenting with PETG for final use parts as the dimensional stability at higher temps is really worth it.

I've just started experimenting with PETG, just curious what printer you use and what your settings are. I have a Lulzbot Taz6 so I've mostly let the printer run everything with only small changes to the stock settings, so diving into the settings myself is a big difference.

Currently my PETG prints are off a Prusa Mk3s, just tuned through the widely accessible temperature towers, linear advance, retraction, coasting and other calibration tests. Don't be afraid to play with the all the settings in a slicer software, as finding the sweet spot can make a world of difference. PETG is fairly hydroscopic, from my experience dehydrating the filament for hours (5-6hrs. 70C) before printing is key. Otherwise I find it as easy to work with as PLA.

Etsy shop seems to be on pause with a lot of bad reviews from over 2 years ago for items not delivered. Thatโ€™s not giving me warm fuzzies.
