    Splatmaster rapide part deux...velocity

I'd like to get this shooting a little faster, closer to 280.

    a few ideas I've had:

    - Is there a transfer port I can widen here?

    - What about drilling out the long tube on front of the valve to increase flow?

    - what about clipping the front spring or replacing it with a weaker spring (valve would remain open longer)?

Or should I shut up and just let sleeping dogs lie? Last I shot it I was seeing 220-240s, maybe a 250 or two.

Some sort of detents would help I'm sure, and maybe a slightly longer barrel, so maybe a valve mod shouldn't be step 1.

I have had a number of these over the years. Love them to death and have attempted many mods. They are pretty much stuck at 250fps no matter what ya do. Springs, valve work, spacers, etc. the only way I have gotten higher has been running back bottle gator kits with liquid Co2.
Fun guns, absolute blast to play with, but by the 20th shot in the magazine, you can damn near catch that ball if you are on the receiving end haha. Part of the charm.

not saying don’t try, but the results may be limited. At least from my experience.

Ok fair enough. Any other mods you found worthwhile?

        Here is a start:
        - tighter bore barrel
        - detent - bucket changer
        - extended knob handle (I made a 3d printed one that works great)
        - hopper adapter if you're tired of spinning the stack

and then there is the stock "upgrades" that make the "rapide comp.": Shoulder stock, under stock bottle and "extended barrel" (it's just a mockup shroud)

I do want a hopper or at least 10 round tube adapter. I'd really like a 3d printed PT Xtreme style spring feed adapter.

The barrel surprisingly fits the paint I have in hand pretty well; it could use some polish. I have to wonder if someone couldn't 3d print an adapter to stuff freak inserts into this thing.

          I think I need to buy a 3d printer :-)

Ive thought about pulling the brass liner and try to push a freak insert in there, but didnt thought about 3D printing a barrel ... May have to give it a shot ...

I actually am in the middle of making the freak kits for these, very simple. I have a few options done so far. the standard freak insert is a bit shorter then the stock barrel, so the insert stops about 2-3" short of the end of the barrel.

I did order the Freak XL insert and now the barrel is about 1.5" longer but the insert goes all the way to the end.

I also created a short stub, basically removed the barrel tip, and increased the diameter and threaded it to fit the freak front. This actually turned out alot better then I expected, although printing that fine of threads I will be curious how long they hold up. I think they are good but would be leary about putting them for sale, as although if careful you should be fine, you would get someone that would overtighten and strip them out and blame the design.

I am now working on the Freak XL for the Comp.

I just tested with a freak insert and it fits perfectly. The bolt enters about 1/4 inch into the freak insert, just like it enters the brass barrel. This freak insert is extremely small bore though I don't remember exactly. I'll check shortly when I take the gun apart again.

The OD of the freak insert is about 1/8 inch too thin on each side for the shells to hold it in place - this probably wouldn't be the case if I had a plastic barrel shroud.

I wrapped the barrel with electrical tape until it fit snugly, but a thick spacer / shim would probably be better.

It feeds / cycles but I have a valve leak so I can't comment on efficiency, velocity, or accuracy.

I may have some brass tubes that may be just the right size ...
A 3d printed front bracket would work great

Very nice! Unfortunately I can't seem to figure out this valve leak so I am giving up on mine. That, plus not having more mags or needing a 10 round tube adapter, plus having other projects to work on, led me to just move on for now. I may revisit.

If you figure out the leak let me know, I have also designed and printed hopper adapter, and 20 and 40 rd mags

I'm pretty sure I have a bunch of your Rapide creations. They all have worked well. Now to get that comp muzzle.
