THIS. I am a person who really loved a good craft beer, but I can't say enough bad about alcohol. It is deadly, doubly so when clinical depression is involved. And mixed with other drugs (Rx or not)... muerto.

I have a dear friend that is riding this roller coaster right now. He's clean for months then just disappears. I've found providing help is just as difficult as him helping himself. Depression is really a terrible thing, totally changes someone.

    Fatal self neglect

I suppose it's very common, eh?

A super old acquaintance and friend, among the group of people I played paintball with the first time passed away last night. It will be a moment for the actual cause of death but basically comes down to complete neglect of himself. Really a damned shame. Guy was a couple of years younger than myself.
He went through a rough patch back a few years ago after a divorce and the death of his parents. Refused to do much but drugs and drinking afterwards. He was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes a while back and didn't change anything, or take meds. Just over a month ago he had two sores that wouldn't heal go septic/staph/necrotizing over the last month in the hospital. Went out raving and unaware of who and where he was.

Isn't it amazing that something so preventable and so actionable can seem insurmountable from such a perspective.
