Shipping to Canadian via US address

Looking for your guys' opinion on something. I have a potential buyer for my nightkast on PBN. He's in Canada but the post office is closed whenever I'm off work so its not practical to ship over the border. He says he has a friend on this side of the border that goes back and forth often. You guys think I'm safe to ship to a US address for a Canadian buyer? I was thinking maybe including a note on paypal that it's going to a different address? I'm just worried about the guy claiming it wasn't delivered.

I'd probably either ask that his friend pay you or ask the buyer to pay and contend with brokerage fees.

I suggested that he pay his friend and then transfer to me but apparently it's the friend's dad that actually resides in the US so he didn't feel comfortable asking

Have him put the US address into PayPal as the shipping address.

I think in the change your PayPal address thread it was said that you can have multiple or temporary PayPal addresses? Maybe ask him to do that?

From what I understand you aren't allowed to do that.

You can have more than 1 address in PayPal. Have him put whatever address you are shipping to in PayPal and use that when he sends the money.

They'll allow more than 1 but he's saying they won't allow him to enter a US address. He even tried adding it as a gift address. It wants verification. Maybe something to do with the new tax law?

I just flat out told him if he can't find a way to set up another address, he can gift the payment. Just trying to avoid some BS where he tries to say it wasn't delivered or something and I'm out $600.

The US border just recently re-opened to driving into the US from Canada but there are many restrictions which seem to change daily. Unless you are shipping directly into Canada, I would avoid selling to a Canadian-based customer as they may not qualify to enter the US to pick it up.

If you are going ahead with the sale and are willing to ship into Canada, please use only USPS and not any of the other courier options. USPS transfers to Canada Post and the buyer may still be subjected to both duty (taxes on the total value) plus some sort of handling/broker fee but not nearly as steep as if a courier like UPS was used.

Where is he located in Canada?

He ended up just sending the payment as a gift and I sent it to his friends address in the states. Keeps me from having to worry about any of it and I just insured it for the full value in the event something happens in the mail. My main concern was him saying it wasn't delivered and filing a paypal claim. Since the address wouldn't match his PayPal shipping address.

He wouldn't be able to claim it as he sent the money as a gift, that said that's against paypal TOS so be careful

Good call I wouldn’t have sold it any other way. Especially with people I don’t know in PBN.

Yeah. He didn't use the typical scammer lingo or really rub me the wrong way, but he was completely inexperienced and had a brand new account. I just told him to look up my SN on here, ebay etc and decide if he felt comfortable gifting. He took a couple days to respond after he had been pretty active, so I wrote him off as a scammer. Then he came back and said he'd be willing to gift it.

                      Done deal now lol.

Yeah to many variables to take payment any other way. Glad it worked out for you.
