Personally, I vote for the requirement a user have at least a semi-intelligent sounding username, too.

"Reefercheefer420"? Really? I thought names like "SeXXXgod69-24/7" went out with, like, MySpace or Geocities.

Doc's just jealous he didn't think of it first. Good luck with your Ego collection efforts.

            -Heh...!

The internet (IE, message boards, text messages, et al) reduces a person to little more than a screen name and some typed dialogue.

So the only things we have to judge a person by.... are those two things. Your name, and the quality of your writing.

I tend to be of the opinion that, if such is the case, both should be curated carefully, rather than portrayed like you're a 13-year-old sneaking into mom's AOL account or something.

But hey, what do I know?

You can also judge them based on what they use for a marker stand! Or so I'm told...

If you came to a paintball forum to show off your wit and gwammar you'd be better off crawling back in your igloo and writing an autobiography about your sad life. Or work on writing better jokes. Im not sure what you know or how they judge people in your village but what I know is that you try to hide your oh so thin D behind poetry. I remember the good old days when I made fun of names and right after finished 3rd grade along with my grammar career.

If you so choose to judge for yourself, fine. To project it onto others as a critique, though? No one asked or made you judge user names or the "quality" of their writing. You dropped it in this thread like a deuce in the bed.

Let's all choose to be kind to each other.

Well, I see I stepped in it here. I'll offer an apology to those offended, and slink back to my igloo-shop, sharpen my ulu and see if I can't finish carving Nuppy's Vee-Twin out of beaver pelts and walrus oosiks.

This sort of behavior has literally run new members off in the past for thinking that the users here were a bunch of self-righteous pricks because they jumped at a chance to flame a new member as opposed to just being quiet and letting them do their thing and enjoy their hobby like the rest of us. If it was a blatant scammer then have at it, otherwise just walk away. That’s not just for you but for anyone in that mindset.

I for one am happy to see a new member stand up for themselves AND stick around afterwards. Public standing on an online paintball forum only offers you so much clout…

And actually, in retrospect, I agree. What I posted was in large part tongue-in-cheek, but also as what at least I felt was a genuine suggestion. Like it or not, we are ALL judged on what and how we write, since apart from posting pictures, that's pretty much the only thing you can do here.

And yes, I realize the irony of my original post.

Call me an old fuddy-duddy, but I also come from a time in this sport where we, as players and enthusiasts, had to present a good image, so that some lady on the planning & zoning commission doesn't have our field shut down for "practicing war games", or tells the local retailer to stop selling "those mock weapons and 'fake blood' bullets!". (I actually had to appear before the local City Council to open my field- and the vote was 5-4 for provisional permission. We were basically one jerk shooting mailboxes in some neighborhood away from getting said permission yanked. Thankfully that never happened.)

Some of that still lingers when I see what are, to me, maybe a little inappropriate screen names.

                  Doc.

I'm with Doc on this one. This is a Paintball chat, not cannabis. A username like yours seems adolescent at best.
Yes, people will judge you over a username. And how you present yourself when being introduced. (hint)

C'mon man! First you admit to "igloo" and "Jokes" so must have some knowledge about who you are talking about and the internet. (Happy 20th TWB!)
Then you say you don't know what He knows (kind of obvious since Doc was building markers probably before you were out of diapers)
You finish up by saying your grammar career ended in the third grade. Not to get all batrachomyomachian about it, but it's not something I'd brag about.

So welcome to MCB. Where any three members add up to a century's worth of paintball experience, where members are always ready to help out by relating their experience and knowledge to those who need it, as long as it's a respectful request. To start by antagonizing one of the Apex does not go far when establishing credibility.

None of that actually matters, but every bit of the info he used is on every single one of doc's posts; avatar info and signature.
