Thanks for the input everyone! I just ordered one today for an old cocker.. it’s overkill for that, but I wanted a smooth looking regulator that is externally adjustable and has a bottom line hose.

I don't know technically but they're marketing say the bulged swivel is SST. I don't know if this differs at all from their regular swivel. You can't go wrong with AKA. They're still around for a reason.
"SOLID STOP TECHNOLOGY The SST™ regulator is the newest development in regulator design. Most regulators are not consistent under extreme use. The reason for this is that most have soft seats and therefore the sealing surface is always at a different location (height). The SST™, at rest, seals on a small hard o-ring that can be crushed only a small amount before the seat holder contacts a hard surface (solid stop). In-house testing shows the SST™ delivers air efficiently and directly because of its smooth route from the inlet on the swivel to the hole in the piston. Therefore, when shooting paint, the consistency is excellent.
Short SST is 3" long, the Medium SST is 3.5" long and the Long SST is 4" long. All SST and Sidewinder tops are interchangeable. Standard ASA threads to marker and 1/8 NPT thread for air fitting. Output 0-400 PSI."

Finger grooves, or smooth, flat swivel or buldged swivel. That and length are the only choices I know of.

As far as I am aware they have remained internally the same, only the exterior housing had changed. It’s mostly an aesthetic choice where you want the classic vs. finger grooves, etc.

Aka sidewinder
Hey does anyone have a picture of the latest sidewinder being made in gloss black (short)? I’ve seen different ones over the years. Also are there any differences in the old vs new regs? What’s better?Tags: None
