    Uuuggggg shoot me now

Doing "training" for work today. Basically I have to sit in front of a computer while it talks at me to teach me such mind blowing things such as but definitely not limited to:

Hand trucks help you move things around

    Propane is flammable

Foggy conditions reduce how far ahead you can see

A ramp helps you get the hand truck up a step

I've already done a lot of these, there's probably 20 hours of stuff, it's miserable and we only have to do it for compliance purposes. Basically some insurance pencil pusher decided there's the possibility that someone out there doesn't know that falling heavy objects can cause injury so everyone needs to watch every single video just in case

I'll check this thread through the day if anyone else wants to share in their own misery

I love the OSHA training I have to do at work , I drive truck but to keep the company compliant I have to do chemical training
      AND
also do the separate trucking stuff required but the plant mutants don't have to do that

I coach my kids. We need to do hours and hours of training. I've done most of it, but have to do a 4 hour long video conference course in which you cannot turn your camera off. I'm salty about it and it is a requirement, but I give a significant amount of hours to coaching and really am avoiding losing 4 hours to this course... but I have to. Maybe I'll see if there's an evening course I can take and enjoy a nice drink in a cooler cup at the same time.... Sadly courses like these are inevitable and part of life.

They are covering their own a@@. I spent years as the head of safety at a mid sized company. We had a very shitty situation where someone was paralyzed because they didn’t wear their seat belt in a gator and a very minor accident was much worse then it needed to be. OSHA fined us. We had his training showing he was trained to use all the safety equipment on the vehicle and it was provided from John deer with a big sticker on the dash that says ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SEATBELT. But since the training document didnt say seatbelt and the company hadn’t added a SECOND sticker saying the SAME THING the factory sticker did we had to pay. The dude admitted to the he knew better and he was trained to wear it but I guess OSHA didn’t think he watched enough 4 hour videos.

Probably the worst part about my stuff is a lot of it is covering safe driving stuff. Ok that's all fine to teach somebody but it's also my trucking schools job to teach me not the propane industry. It's also such basic stuff that you should know it's from just having a driver's license

Basically they are feeling the need to teach me it again just in case the CDL training and the hazmat training both didn't teach me that having headlights on increases visibility.

At this point in my life I am convinced that as a driver driving for a company if you run someone over, and the company cannot provide a training document that you signed saying that you were trained specifically not to run people over, OSHA will fine the company because you were not trained to not run people over.

Life since about the mid-90s has been increasingly about fulfilling silly rules for liability and bureaucratic purposes that everybody agrees are ridiculous but that nobody can do anything about

Are your osha videos also poorly animated "Gary's mod" videos?? I actually get a laugh out of the trainings for that reason.

"yes that's the right answer, now let me read to you why it's the right answer"

I feel like someone got paid to design a course that lasted 25 minutes but only had 5 minutes of actually instruction to work with

                        Oh yes.

I wouldn't even say these two are bad. They are just where I am at the moment

There wouldn't be trainings on these things if other people hadn't already found a way to royal screw up =P
